Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Consequences of layoffs and brain drain

For years, Verizon has been cutting jobs and losing talent. We lost great people who made a difference every single day. As a result, the management team is now filled with people who have no idea what they're doing. Everything that's wrong with the company is a direct result of that.

I think they are finally realizing they don't know what they are doing though, so maybe things will pick up after a while as we get new leaders and people find themselves. The market is forcing Verizon's hand to become a better company. This will be an interesting year as they begin to take a cue, shed some more baggage, and start making it happen.

It's not just VZ either. I've noticed how the Amazon site/app
has been wonky for some time. Word from former VZ employees who now work there say it's the same deal. Got rid of the talent, hired overseas vendors, quality went down.

Hope that this is not the roadmap for Google, Microsoft, etc. All of whom have announced major layoffs.

The Oct RIF was a brutal failure as we kicked many people whose greatest sin was 20 yrs employment with higher salaries. Didnt matter, customer facing or not, didnt matter if they were valuable at their job & bringing in new customers. The BGCO is a joke with no concept of One Call Resolution and Owning the Problem to resolution. They close out Get Supports to get fake credit for doing something,, then make VZB sales to re-submit 2 or 3 more to cover each step of customers problem & hope it doesnt come back to them.

This article came out in 2018 when the VSP was announced and has been right every step of the way.

I agree and I agree with @dsr too. We lost more of already small group of remaining people who had tenure and actually knew what they were doing all because they had tenure and therefore made too much $$$$. So Vz gets what it pays for and customers suffer, in additional to employees who have to do their jobs and the outsourced team's jobs because they are do doggone clueless and don't care. ...how that outsourcing working for ya Hanzie.

I agree, but nothing the company needs to do moving forward is rocket science.

They could run the company with just a few network guys. The C levels are starting to see that.

If your job is to manage people that do not support network, or customers directly start working on your resume.

If you are in any operational reporting, or middle management and you work on PowerPoint presentations and anything that does not directly translate to acquiring customers, start working on your resume yesterday.

If you make more than 120k, and you have had a second to breathe in 2023, it is already too late. The Company has already noticed and only wants those who will stay late and work non stop. You are already gone
