Manager: I send it out and leave it up to you for a talk. No matter the path most of the WF people complain. So I leave it up to them and yep at least one complained.

My mgr scheduled comp call for 7 a.m. my time. Such B.S. Maybe I should schedule a meeting in her timezone at 8 p.m. WF mgt needs an en--a.

For me, the least amount of interaction possible w/ management is a bonus all to itself.

Amen! And while you are at it... how's about not reading my review to me (line by line including 75 references to my given name) ... anyone else offended by this practice? Like, He-l ya! I'll pay you $50 an hour (or whatever) but somehow don't believe you can comprehend the simplicity of my sentence structure.
Gotta love WF...... not!

We have 5 managers in our department who report up to a Senior Director. Last year one of the 5 managers, mine, was on vacation during this week. So, everyone in the department got their numbers except for those of us who report to my manager. They made 8 of us wait the full week until he came back so that “he could give his direct reports their numbers”. He couldn’t take an hour out of his vacation and pick up the phone?? The senior Director couldn’t tell us in his absence??

That’s how ridiculous this hot mess hierarchy is, and how out of touch our management is ☹️.

Why is a conversation even needed in the first place? It won't change a dang thing.

@yeg+1kSIUy7m, managers are trying to do the right thing? What's that?
You want to share immediate feedback? You must be new. I've been here nearly 20 years and was a manager for half of that time. Merits and bonus comp and to a large extent, even performance ratings, were out of my hands in many years. So any 'immediate feedback' I would receive from an employee landed on deaf ears. I guess if it gives you a rise thinking your feedback matters at all....go ahead and enjoy that 3 min call. I'd prefer an email.

Can you say that again - my review must be the same as most of my team as my wonderful caring manager seems to have missed a few (half) of the find and replace as he had a co-workers NAME in the second half of my review.

That is real love.

@cnm I really like your reply. Most managers as far as I can tell are trying to do the right thing. I like the couple of minute conversation. I can share any immediate feedback. Maybe I was expecting more, surprised by how great the numbers are, whatever.

Does a convo change anything? Mine was sent but I have concerns. Not trying to rock any boat or waste a managers time if it’s pointless.

Managers insights?

If your manager is doing what is required of them and being a decent manager, a conversation directly about a change in salary should happen. Be respectful and appreciative. Take advantage of the time given during a sometimes busy day to actually have a word or two and be human!

Exactly. I told my manager to do that and he did. Got tired of waiting for him to send a formal meeting invite for a three minute meeting.
