Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Lack of professionalism

I used to be proud to work here surrounded by some of the biggest experts in their field. Nowadays, the lack of professionalism and competence is a real problem here.
For those who remember better days, could you have ever guessed that this would one day become a place for mediocrity?

Maybe the new executives could come up with a strategy of buying junkyards, e-commerce, and vehicle maintenance…you know cradle to grave with EVs… feels like 2001 again.. waiting for an event to change the course again….

Those of you who downvoted @1kvn+1kSOpzgd should re-calibrate your sarcasm detectors. It's being pointed out that those giving themselves very, very large bonuses think that they are extremely competent because of the very large bonuses they gave themselves previously which in turn they granted themselves since the large bonuses before that obviously had to be due to their believe in their own brilliance.

hey troll, spread ur BS elsewhere, the reasons for the Ford+ Plan and hiring of outside talent to populate our leadership ranks is to eliminate all the over 50, pensioned workers identified by the vey expensive Boston Consulting otherwise known as project Monarch. Doug Field for example with Model e is a professional job hopper who barely lasts 2-3 years at any company.
Ford has hired rejects from HP, Tesla, Google, Renault who were not able to accomplish anything at their previous positions and continue to fail at Ford.
Farley is a sociopath and will remove them as he continue to receive criticism from the media and shareholders. It cost Hackett his position and JF knows his a$$ will be shown the door as well. Shareholder's can see through the BS, it's pathetic over the last 7 years we will have gone through 3 CEOs in contrast to GM, who under Barra's leadership have turned around their business.

To OP's point, this is one of the reasons for the Ford+ Plan and hiring of outside talent to populate our leadership ranks. Doug Field for example with Model e.

The changes are happening now, so I would ask to be patient and support the company transformation with your full efforts.

@ comment about them following the flawed business model... you've got a point there. I guess it just shows the true level of incompetence when you don't have the capacity to stop and think for a minute as to what you are doing. That running blindly off the rails makes sense.

@ whoever mentioned younger hires not following processes, have you looked at our One Ford/Ford+/whatever they are Behaviors these days? Modernize and Disrupt. Ie, break whatever is necessary to go as fast as possible. It's not the new guys' fault that they're following a flawed directive.

Probably the last decade of many automobile companies.
DF was a failure at tesla
He is a failire for ford.

They hired DF, who is completely out of touch with Ford and its customers, to transform the company. And transform is what he will do, executing a 5 year remote drive by from his California location.

Op, that cannot be true. Professionalism is acquired through strong leadership. Ford has outstanding leaders - they have the well earned bonuses to prove it.

The level of incompetence of the younger / inexperienced new hires is astounding. They literally, and not exaggerating believe that no process or requirement applies to them. That they can make it up as they go along. It is breathtaking. When called out, they claim they have the full authority of their managers to defy corporate requirements. To the point that they are empowered to make organizational demands on LL3+. Good Lord where does this insane behavior come from. Think things are a train wreck now, just wait until the ramifications of this behavior come to fruition. The problem isn't from the experienced staff, but rather the narcissistic insanity of what is being brought into the company. These people will destroy Ford from the inside and our customers will pay through further decline of our products. Knowing what I know, I would NEVER allow a family member to purchase any if our products. For God's sake absolutely not.

Why be loyal to a company that isn't loyal to you. Good people stay because they have good reason to stay and they feel valued and rewarded. JF has no idea what to do. Dearborn transformation and the Train Station are examples of spending money for fluff. The only thing that matters is the design and quality of the vehicles you produce. F has gotten away from the core business. A divided house will fall as the old saying goes.

@kha+1kSOpzgd,

Warranty losses are at a all time high. Record number of recalls last year were 67 total.
Loss of customer confidence , and record low quality. People at Sears used to dream of better days. This business cannot continue like this for long.

You get the loyalty and stability you pay for. This was put into motion post 2004 when the pension fund was no longer offered to new hires. Fast forward to today and Ford is just another company. The more people who retire (or are retired) the less reason there exists to keep Ford a going concern. Think back to 2008/09. Most employees had a pension, so if the whole thing went belly up those people would get pennies on the dollar. There was that loyalty carrot for Ford to dig deep and deliver. And it did, really well in matter a fact. Now, people couldn’t care less if the company lives or dies. And that feeling gets stronger with GenZ/Millennials and hey I cannot fault those kids, pretty raw deal, probably the first generation in the history of the United States to do worse than their parents (to spite all the access to higher education). This sentiment is universal; until corporate America collectively pulls their head out of their a-s and institutes loyalty based compensation, this lack of professionalism will persist.

Having worked for Ford for 30plus years it’s heartbreaking to see how bad the company is now.
Poor management with a level of incompetence that beggars belief!
I hope the company turns it around for the youngsters who deserve the prospect of working for a decent company.
Unfortunately I can’t see that happening, it’s very sad.

Google, Apple, and Microsoft? It would suck to get separated from Ford, find a new job in Big Tech and then go through the mass layoffs they are currently going through.

It's sad what has happened to Ford. Many of my friends and colleagues were separated in August, delighted they ALL landed incredible positions in automotive as well as tech, manufacturing, mobility and other places. A big F#*K YOU to Farley and disgraceful Ford family. It's interesting how these folks that were deemed unnecessary, are considered vital and highly respected at companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft and the how Ford is seen as a poorly managed and terrible workplace filled with fakes.
