Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

DEI, the disabled, and the bank of doing nothing

Thinking about my DEI feedback, although it will do absolutely nothing in the end, we have to embrace candor, right?

Forcing people to go into offices, travel, attend in person events, etc, where high risk and disabled employees are bound to be and not wearing masks is incredibly ableist.

Masking is to protect others. When the most simple task to protect our disabled/immune compromised employees is completely ignored by this company, it really sends the message loud and clear. You don’t matter. The leaders and culture here do not care if you suffer long term or worse.

The very least that could be done is requesting employees do this at large events and enclosed meetings. At the very least, while the world continues to suffer from large percentages of ongoing new and repeat infections.

This place can never do the right thing, for employees or customers. It clearly never will.

We are constantly given regurgitated lessons on risk identification, root cause analysis, and action planning, establishing controls…but yet fail to see that type of action being taken here where employees lives are at risk. It’s not that they don’t know, they don’t care. As always since the new leadership has come into place, it’s every employee for themselves.

For my disabled / immunocompromised/ at risk colleagues, I am sorry. I hope we all make it through this disastrous time with as little life altering impacts possible. You do matter. Your quality of life matters. I will continue to think of you daily and do my part by masking.

A lot of bosses like the suffering, I've worked for a few and one VP I worked for used to brag about it to his boss, the CIO.

These folks get into good schools after mommy and daddy bribe their way in, they run a network of their alum's to get into these exec jobs.

If you've ever wondered why the exec's make d-mb decisions it's because a lot of them are kinda' d-mb.

Not d-mb like they can't tie their shoes, d-mb like they have no idea what they're doing, but they keep failing up and think that means they're smart.

Imagine being so ghey and estrogen-filled that having your direct reports in the office fulfills you for some reason.

Misses the point. The real issue here is that people in management tend to have a psychological need to see people who are "under" them suffering. Examples can include things as simple as demands to run demeaning errands ("go get me some coffee!"), to forcing RTO ("I want to see butts in chairs!"), or demands pertaining to productivity ("Do more with less!" "Work harder!").

It's an actual psychological phenomena, and it generally becomes more pronounced the higher within an organization a person resides. A considerable percentage of CEO's have been diagnosed with mental health issues, and those who are a layer or three down from the CEO are not immune.

The exception process exists for people who medically cannot come into an office. Several people on my team asked for them and they were granted - mostly for anxiety. We are a close team so people generally shared why they weren’t coming in.

I wear my mask in the office. No one has ever given me side eye or a hard time. I wear it on video calls, too. I eat my lunch in my car.

I’m glad masks protect others but I’m worried about myself first. I spray the desk I sit at down with a can of Microban before I log on too. I don’t care if it breaks the keyboard and mouse eventually - not mine. And yes, I wear a mask out in crowds on personal time too and get restaurant take out instead of dining in.

"Would he approve of intentionally unleashing disease and deadly "treatments" for profit? All signs point to no. How about people promoting such a thing? Yeah, not so much there either. This isn't going to end how you think it's going to end."

Wow, it's possible Christ could both disapprove of corporate greed AND approve of caring for our neighbors. But you do you, boo -- I won't be answering for your actions should I make it into heaven (if it exists).

You don’t believe in science, that’s the actual root cause of the issue here.

I dunno, wearing a mask sounds like a great way to "love thy neighbor", even if you don't want to vax up. But curiously, there's an awful lot of overlap between the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers.

My takeaway is that people are in general selfish as-----s.

I’m not responsible for your health. If your mask works, wear it. If not, stay home.

Now how many people fall into that category realistically? And not the fake ones or the whiners because they don't want to come in? And now the entire company needs to change based on that very small population of people? That's what you call managing to the bottom. There are exceptions and they receive the accomodations, but that doesn't mean the entire company adjusts for everyone else.

Keep looking for something else to complain about.

Thank you for seeing people like me. Our lives are forever changed due to selfishness and ignorance of others. It's destroyed my faith in humanity.

It’s not even just about this population, this should be for everyone as this is now causing high rates of newly disabled and immunocompromised individuals. Long Covid is no joke. Playing with fire here. Not good for business continuity.
