Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Changes

I had the privilege of sitting in on a “Heads of” meeting where it seem like a huge change in leadership is on the horizon. Seems a restructuring of the chairman’s responsibility will start Q2. The progressive era as it was called should take a lot of the ol wallstreet mentality out of the everyday employees life. Basically senior leadership is worried about retention on the lower levels and they are working on a few things to “progress” employee relations.

What meeting did you sit in on? Heads of what? Head of people that know nothing?

@1tcf+1kWgukwT It has been this way for over 20 years and is not going to change any time soon. I have way to much work to do any career planning during work time...no time for trainings, job shadow or a mentor. For most people if you want to do career planning that it has to be done on your own time. I work close to 60 hours a week so I'm exhausted and don't even want to think about work when I'm off.

I hope they do something about. As a young Fidelity employee I’m a bit disillusioned with this company. There’s no career growth support and the people I see getting big promotions are not in the least impressive.

Are they discussing a total revamp to “Dynamic Working” which will actually result in flexibility for those roles that gain nothing from being forced back into the office on specific dates? Any other details you could provide? Thanks.

@nwi+1kWgukwT - I recon that the 4 that are openly talking about interviews are not going to find a new gig as easy as those who are NOT talking about it. Exception here would be if you took the VBO.

It is way smarter to not tip your hand. Why tell anyone at work that you are interviewing and then months later you have not moved on. Bad visual that you cant land a new gig in this crazy job market especially for Software Engineers.

Well they better do it quickly because on my team of 11, 4 are already interviewing outside of Fidelity because of this misguided 5 days a month in the office push.
