Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Job posting wait time

Hello, recently laid off employee here. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to hear something from HR after you’ve posted for a position? I have applied for a couple of positions, the req has been closed and weeks have gone by with no word from the recruiter. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance

Months in my experience. You can email the recruiter and get an update.

After I was laid off with severance pay I did apply for ONE job at Wells Fargo at a site that would be the best drive for RTO. Five months went by with no work on that job application from HR. Then "out of the blue" (Ha!) I did receive an email from HR asking me to accept a meeting invitation for an interview with the Manager who posted that job 5 months prior. Maybe they ran through lots of other candidates who turned out to not be well qualified? By that time I already had a great new job, much higher salary, similar benefits, fully remote and full time permanent position. Was still collecting Wells Fargo severance pay and for a while longer too. Two incomes overlapping. Good I needed that extra money. So 5 months ...

I know someone else who was also a consumer mortgage underwriter. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

If you don’t hear back within two weeks, it means they selected other candidates.

In my experience if you don't hear back within about three weeks then you're not really in the running.

They are getting thousands of applications for some postings and recruiting is severely backed up. Expect at least 1-2 months to hear anything.

It depends on the position and how fast things are moving in that specific organization. I've applied to jobs where I've been called in 1 week and I've applied to jobs where I received nothing but a form rejection letter 3 months later. Never hearing anything happens more often than not.
