Alight HSA $25 charge to close account after moving it to Fidelity

Those muthers...I transfered my HSA to Fidelity and Alight charged me $25 to close the account.

If you plan to transfer it you might want to leave $.01 in the account to jack it to em.

Word is Fidelity will credit you $25 if you ask.

I would like to thank you for the post about switching to a Fidelity HSA. I also got charged $25 account closing fee from Alight but Fidelity had no problem reimbursing me the $25 to make me whole. That was a nice gesture. Some benefits of Fidelity are: 1). No monthly fees, 2) free trades on most stocks and ETFs, 3) no $1,000 requirement to leave in cash like Alight had, 4) way more investments to choose from as in all of them, 5) customer service agents who are actually smart and not mo--ns. I would recommend switching to Fidelity if you are tired of Alight who we got stuck with. Thanks again.

Which part of Fidelity did you reach out to move your HSA? The same people who manage the 401k?

I kept my money in Health Equity; HOWEVER, they "misquoted" me the fees and it ended up being only a little cheaper than keeping an HSA invested at Alight. The GOOD thing is that I found Fidelity, so in the long run it will be cheaper than not taking the time to investigate and just keeping my money parked with Alight.

Alight is a very shady company. They try all sorts of underhanded tricks to siphon off money. I think it's a safe bet that nobody would choose Alight HSA on their own...only if their employer chooses Alight. At least the switch to Alight made me realize how great it was to have Health Equity before. I'll just write off the $25 shakedown fee as the last Alight scam I'll have to deal with.
