First off, I don’t have any inside information that every one is clamoring for. I do want to say that the number of layoffs(15k) being thrown around can be exaggerated. No one from VZ has come out and said how many people will be impacted; Reuters, CNBC, WSJ have been wrong before and they can be wrong again. At times, they report on what they read on social media; they dont have inside information in these matters. There are a number of examples where initial reports had one astronomical number and then later was found out to be false. Example, Media/Analyst at one time had Ford laying off 20,000 people, but in actuality it was something like 1,500. That said, yes, obviously there will be layoffs as Dan said, but we dont know, how many will be laid off. No one knows other than the big dawgs.

@ay in certain reporting, WLS is Wireless and WLN is Wireline. Seen it in discussions regarding sales quotas for each.

That number came from a leak inside Verizon. It is what it is at this point. Finance prepared scenarios for 15, 25, and 35% reductions. It's going to be massive. Sorry to those on the lower end of stack rank, redundant, or mostly WLN.
My manager said the 20th will be a bloodbath worse than Worldcom days. If the number is 20%- and it is- then 15K is low. I think 15k is the number intentionally leaked to the press to minimize what it really will be.
