Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

All first levels on my team have been told to be available for a call on the 20th between 8 and 9.

ADs will you be calling everyone or just those that are riffed? Will you share the list with everyone after the calls?

I’ve only seen them do lump sum calls for teams if the whole store is closing. When I was in retail they did a in store meeting for one of the stores and the other store in the district was an over the phone ( I think because the store only had about 6 employees) they both closed at the same time. Back in 2020 when reps were offered a package we had a call scheduled and it only included the reps that were affected based on tenure ( least seniority got cut or given the option to apply for new positions) when stores went from having 4 sms to 3 sms or 3 sms to 2 asms they were called directly by their district manager. In my previous role my whole team was let go and they were called by our ad individually

Troll. No, the lists aren’t going to be posted publicly like some kind of raffle — that would be incredibly disrespectful to those affected. You’ll find out if you or your team is impacted on Thursday morning. It makes no sense for anyone to start fueling panic this early.

The only way they would announce job loss on a team call is if the entire team is being dissolved. Otherwise, they will call those impacted and then schedule a team call to let everyone else know

@a4 this is exactly how it is done and is a sad day for everyone including those who are not cut. Seeing coworkers lose their means of providing for their family and Healthcare is awful.

Having survived through past rifs - It usually was an invite to a group call explaining what happened and the affected individuals are called one on one before the team meeting.

In the past they haven't given people advanced notice to be on a call when they were laid off.

My personal opinion is they don’t need to get rid of as many first liners. What they need to do is get rid of all second liners. And then cut the third liners in half. And then get rid of all the vice presidents. That would save the company an amazing amount of money.
