Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Unlimited Time Off?

Do some leaders get unlimited time off? I know that I have been at the bank longer than a couple liters that I’m thinking of, but they seem to have unlimited vacation time… they also have unlimited dental appointments. It just doesn’t seem like they could possibly be putting their time into workday. I know most folks don’t… there’s a really terrible policy regarding tracking time off for those who are except employees.

And I’m sure someone’s going to say “they don’t get overtime pay” but.. exempt employees are paid more than nonexempt employees, because they are expected to complete tasks regardless of the hours required to do them. If staying late or coming in early is required to do the job, exempt employees are frequently expected to do just that. There’s no expectation of comp time… if nonexempt employees are supposed to make their vacation and personal days work for them then exempt employees should be expected to do the same. And it’s laughable that they think we don’t notice.. we’re not children and we’re not id--ts. We see you (and all your double standards).

I know that Band 3's do not get a vacation allotment. They can taker off as many days as they want. That is a known fact.

In my area we aren’t required to put leave in Workday, and nobody cares if you’re doing your job and not abusing it. The handbook says that Workday tracking of leave requirement is at your manager’s discretion. If someone abused it, then there would likely be consequences or they would be asked to start tracking.

Yeah, it's a strange place. We had a couple guys in our office that would always show up late, around 10 AM, then leave early around 3 or 4 PM. The rest of us worked the normal 8+ hours we were required to work. Manager never said or did anything about it, as long as they kept hitting their quotas. Anywhere else if you pulled this kind of stunt, they would show you the door. But that's how it works here. Certain people for some strange reason can get away with anything, and most everyone else is held to the strictest standards.

What does this have to do with layoffs?

Right.. no overtime pay; however, they’re at a higher pay level to offset that (and they get that $$ regardless if they put in extra time or not)… meanwhile, we aren’t allowed to even take advantage of OT 95% of the year, so it’s not like non-exempt employees are rolling in all this dough and OT hours either.

Again, they are at a higher pay-rate to offset the OT they MIGHT put in… they shouldn’t get unlimited comp time off in addition to that perk. (It’s predictable that they’re all MIA and going to cancel all our calls every Friday because “a fire drill came up” LOL! Yea, sure it did!

Band 5 here, I think I have taken almost 2 months of PTO this year not including the upcoming winter break. I don't book my time in workday and manager doesn't care as long as the work gets done. Your experience may vary.

Mind your own business. Comparison is the thief of joy.

B3 has the unlimited. As mentioned, the carafe usage is 3 weeks. If salaried (exempt) one is considered as having worked the day off they work 5 hours.

yes, but no one takes advantage of it. Too much peer pressure to be "seen" and working crazy hours all the time k*issing azzes. Most just take 2-4 weeks vacation like the rest of their team. Once again, they get credit for offering it, but no on uses it.

Haven't taken a sick day in forever.

it's when you reach a certain band level (B0-3) plus YEARS/Decades of your life sacrificed to the bank.

Funniest thing is being an exempt employee but still having to use sick and vacation time, while not getting paid overtime.
