Don't kid yourself, Verizon spends a lot of money on advertising and it's the brand name that sells.
@a6 I believe the plan will be to package wireline with Frontier then sell it.
I used to be in VBG. Most of our sales were not profitable. It blew my mind that we were recognizing people for selling but did not look at margins. So many people were involved in the selling and support process (overhead) and to be competitive, pricing always had to be lowered. Doesn't make sense to keep a group around that does not yield a proper margin.
In the short term they want to stop the bleeding but longer term Wireline is a dead duck. They dont want to sell more of what they want to get rid of.
likely divesting most of non-profitable VBG segments. this is not "do more with less", its a complete, company-wide restructuring on how we do business.
That would make sense as he would find a sales job real.easy fast...and he was getting high commission. Who cares about sales. .it is a sinking ship. It is a favor to him to provide severance
Verizon has made it impossible for sales to sell. Restrictive on the products, services, outsourcing project management, engineering to India made it extremely hard for companies to buy Verizon services.
