Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Top performer received a notification?

I was literally speechless when I found out about some people who were targeted.
These are employees who would be role model employees in any prosperous company, given their skills, knowledge and dedication to work.
I have no doubt that they will manage to find better jobs very quickly, but what a pity for Cisco! This company is working against itself.

Agree it seems the cut is number based, not talent or skill-set based as stated by the ELT, proved the facts seen in this thread and around me.

Well, it all drills down to be a "business decision". Top performers will remain as top performers no matter where they are. So personally I won't worry about it. Yes, I guess the OP is worrying about Cisco then it is a different story ...

Given Cisco's senior leadership's strategy of managed decline, top talent actually becomes a hindrance to them.

Top talent wants to make a difference by accomplishing things. They will openly question decisions and push against decisions that don't make technical or business sense.

Given that the senior leadership is making decisions based on minimizing costs and protecting a legacy installed base, they have little interest in defending their decisions to top talent that wants to innovate and create new value.

It's actually best for Cisco's senior leadership and for the top talent to have the top talent find a different company where their personal goals can be met.

AFAIK, the cut is based on numbers. To make up the number, you could target fewer persons with higher compensation or more people at lower end of scale.

Cisco has been doing this for years. So much knowledge lost.
