The biggest hassle of RTO (other than the time it takes commuting each way) is unpacking your stuff every morning and packing it all back up again. If you had your own workspace, would you be more likely to want to go back at least 3 days a week?

somehow I lucked out...I have my own cube with high walls in a corner with a window. i do go in, but I really don't want too.. Thinking about coming in on Monday, Thursday, Friday because nobody is there...you know...doing my part to collaborate.
Get there early, maybe 4:30 or 5. Find a "huddle room", "focus room", "mother's room" or something similar and camp in it.
Where are you all working where there are offices? My 2000+ seat WF building has no offices at all except maybe a few on the top floor. When I roll into work around 9am, I get one of the last open seats in my neighborhood. Wednesdays are a ---- show since so many people show up that day of the week.

No. I hate RTO more and more. Will look for new WFH job after bonuses come out.
No. Nothing is worth 2 hours a day commuting, getting up 1 hour or more earlier, being too tired and stressed to enjoy family time and kids’ school activities. Nothing. Covid forced us all to step back and see that ruining your mental and physical health for a company that just keeps taking away benefits with stagnant pay is simply not worth it. For gods sake get rid of these buildings and let us work remote. Many of us are far more productive from home and being forced back to a cube won’t change that.
Not even a 20th floor corner office with a NYC skyline view would make me want to RTO even one day a week. RTO is pointless.
What if each location had several conjugal rooms that could be reserved in 30 minute increments?
THEN would you ingrate employees finally start going in?!

This smells like a covert HR survey.
For me, it is still about the lack of strict policy around employees coming to work sick.
But now that we’ve experienced WFH: it’s also equally about the commute in rush hour traffic, the dress code, the office politics, the atmosphere, the uncleanliness of the facilities, the smelly bathrooms, the micro-managing, the time clock, and the general lack of personal freedom.
Who in the heck wants to go back to the culture and atmosphere created by WFC’s C-suite??? They should run prisons instead of banks 😂.

What's ridiculous is that individual offices being taken away was supposed to be more space efficient...but now so few people come in that everyone could easily occupy their own office (even though they don't call them offices anymore, now it's "huddle space" and "focus room" and other BS euphemisms). There's actually no need to sit in a low wall cube, just claim an available not-called-an-office and use it as one. No one will stop you.
so I comply with the 3 day rule but hate not having an assigned cube. Also, I agree, the low walls suck.
Would it make it better? Yes. Still FRTO though. For thousands of impacted employees it's a complete waste of time to go to a building and then collaborate 100% via phone, email, teams etc.
I'd be willing to commute to dedicated pod... in my garage.
the facility people screwed up and should be fired putting in the low cubes, you can hear everything, and with video calls its impossible to work in the office. They should just sell it all off, fire 70% of the facility headcount, 90% of the worthless DEI headcount, and 100% of the consultants who just make messes around here half finished, and 100% of the management who hired them in the first place.

This would discourage me. I like grabbing an empty office and choosing to not sit by the loud, distracting people. I like having a choice about where I sit if I have to go in. It takes 2 minutes to unpack. That is a non issue.
Currently i take any office i want.. grab any teleconference room i want.. anytime i want.. and i show up 1 day a week to keep off the list. I get pinged almost every other day about a job.
