Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Straight Truth

I am losing one of the most impactful leaders I know to our layoffs. Reality its due to straight up politics and exec leaders who don’t think relationships work both ways. No one should have to kiss an execs as s to be liked. Thats the straight truth

You know it's the same everywhere right? Human beings and all. If your boss doesn't like you, you're gonna be in trouble sooner or later.

Of course it is extremely subjective and political - why any one doubt it? This is mostly true for any larger company that laying people off.

I left after I had enough of seeing the same thing. One of my Sr. Directors got totally shafted by a leader that was on her way out of the company. She had zero reason to do it to him other than being a spiteful b. I also had another leader that was excellent at everything she did from her technical knowledge and work ethic to her team management. She was exactly what Cisco should be promoting as leadership. Despite this she was passed over too many times to count for VP roles for folks far less qualified and people that were way worse at managing and engaging teams. She ended up stuck in a thankless role. This is the part however where it is also on the individual to take control of their career and move on. Life is too short...

Seeing several of these. Is either political based or just expense based. Good leaders can be expensive, so mgmt prefers to remove them. Go figure.
