General Motors has indefinitely frozen its $2.6 billion Tennessee megafactory project and announced its largest layoff wave, cutting 3,420 jobs across its EV and battery manufacturing operations in late 2025. The majority of affected workers are from its Detroit Factory Zero EV plant and the Ultium Cells LLC battery plant in Ohio and Tennessee.

Anyone who believes in the complete transition to EVs needs to drive a mach E to mtu in northern mi. Good luck finding a fast charger north of the bridge. In houghton, there are only 2 fast chargers in all of town.

@a2 Ford and SK ended the join venture for BOSK TN plant. The investment turned into sh-t as always when Ford gets involved.

This is a huge mistake on GM's part and its future business in mobility. Regardless of what the pundits say, BEV mobility and subscription services is where the future business lies.

Ford is doing the right move by not caving to the pundits and continuing with the transformation plan with Model e.

Yes, auto manufacturing is actively growing and shifting in Tennessee, with major investments from General Motors (GM), Toyota, Volkswagen, and Nissan to increase domestic production, especially for gas/electric hybrid and EV components, driven partly by trade policies and tariffs, leading to new jobs, expanded facilities, and shifting production lines (like the Blazer coming to Spring Hill).
Key Developments:
General Motors (GM): Investing $4 billion in U.S. plants, including Spring Hill, TN, to boost gas and EV production, adding the Chevy Blazer to the lineup and increasing overall U.S. output.
Nissan: Considering making hybrid powertrains at its Decherd engine plant due to shifting EV demand, potentially revitalizing the facility for new missions.
Toyota Boshoku TN: Expanding its Jackson facility for metal seat frame components, adding new jobs and strengthening the local economy.
Volkswagen (VW): Continuing significant North American investments, including its large Chattanooga plant, to meet U.S. market goals and potentially avoid tariffs.

The government's meddling is now leading to unemployment.... People want and need these products, the government should subsidize it and pay for it with the tax dollars of the masses so the rich can drive them.
