Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Everyone should start looking for a job right now

Srini made it clear that a massive layoff is coming in Q1. There is no respect for any of us. I’d be willing to bet that the layoff will happen before the end of February to avoid a bonus or stock payout.

Update your resumes start looking now and go out on your terms, not theirs.

None of those senior leaders are sitting up on that stage give a flying F about any of us.

Q1 layoff means that some of you will be training the interns that will be your replacement replacements.

@dd
Unqualified leadership in Enterprise has caused immense damage. Leaders like Mikey Gandy have fostered nothing but toxicity and an unhealthy work environment. Accountability at that level is long past due, and real change won’t happen until those individuals are removed from leadership roles

@gp If you're an IC trying to move up, or have work recognized, it's tough to compete with 14 or 15 others for time on the Manager's calendar.

What does span of control mean for ICs?

@ex They did an org flattening in TMO back in about 2012. They got rid of Sr. Directors, Managers and took the Sr. Managers direct reports from 3-4 Managers to 12-14 ICs. Over the following years, they brought in MTS, Sr. MTS, Director MTS in Engineering, and then Sr Director, Sr. VP, etc, so all the MBAs could feel the $100K they spent in Grad school was worth it.
One thing this company still doesn't understand is span of control.

@ek they talked about flattening the org for years. Way overdue. So many directors and VPs.

Sounded like he called out there being too many VP's and the goal is to quicken decision making... Sounds like it could affect middle management the most... with strays hitting at all levels. Similar language Amazon and Microsoft used in the past.

So glad we brought in 10,000 people from India to steal jobs from Americans.

Correct. Q1 for sure. Bonuses will be paid since it’s for 2025, and the layoffs will happen before 2026 stock grants.

Enjoy your last Christmas with a paycheck.

Yup, so not believe anything they say. They tell you one thing when on stage, then turn around and do the opposite as soon as they step off.

If you still fall for it, that’s on you.
