Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Today is Dec. 15th, the big day

when the union is supposed to know which job titles will be affected by layoffs. I suspect it's going to be nothing but crickets and nobody impacted. If there are union layoffs, it will probably be so minimal that it won't even be worth mentioning.

Part of the problem may be companies like blackrock. They have mutual funds and.or ETFs. they take other peoples money and use it to buy millions of share of ATT. they are "woke", vote the shares accordingly, and influence ATT policy and its executives. The vast majority of the people who made up the money that bought those ATT share would not approve of their policy. Investors put up the money and blackrock votes "their" shares.

"Well it looks like the Tier 1 TDM support in Charlotte is moving over to Nokia/India. I feel sorry for the CO's techs that have to work with them. "

We have an E911 DMS switch in our office. For security reasons the people in india aren't allowed to work on it.

When I have to work with them, I just use text messages. I can't understand them and the have poor audio connections from india.

Who's "bright" idea was it to surplus this group?

VTP is voluntary termination pay. I think Legacy T might be the only ones who are offered that. The other parts of the company have something called SIPP.

What has the union done to slow the outsourcing of jobs to overseas low cost labor call centers?

yeah like i said, honeypot and his union scabs, knew exactly since none of those job titles(inside techs) were protected by the secret "no layoff agreement". just like they secretly had an agreement for outside techs to do inside work, via the old frame attendant job title.

every ET should tell CWA to go pound sand.

Legacy T surplused 60 account reps in Kansas City and Dallas, and another 24 clerical jobs elsewhere, many in NJ.

the union scabs know exactly who is going to get canned in 2023, they secretly bargained for it. if anyone other than outside technicians are still paying dues, then you d-mb.

It's not going to be 5 years to age and service. It's going to be 15 years to age and service, a doubling of the base rate to determine severance, and a free Tesla for those who choose to depart.

Check back inn March. The enhanced offer of 5 years to age and service + $5k per is percolating. Represented employees will be running for the doors.

Let's hope that is the case. My thought is you're probably right. At least for now, the company requires a lot of bodies to make it go.
