Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Metro on thin ice....

Yesterday, leadership stated that individual contributors will remain the primary model moving forward, and the entire organizational hierarchy is under review. There's talk from the C-suite about increasing the number of doors per RDM to between 20 and 30. At the same time, it appears they're planning to reduce the workforce by at least 20%, which would effectively double (and in some cases triple) the workload for remaining individual contributors. This comes at a time when these teams are already significantly reduced and stretched thin. It's frustrating to hear executives celebrate strong performance while simultaneously pushing for deep staff cuts. This feels like pure corporate greed on T-Mobile's part.

@vg Correct. Directors get their Sr. Managers to do all the dirty work, then lay the off to bring someone else in who will polish their boots.

@fp The RDMs don't do sh*t. Some of my stores have gone weeks and are doing ok.

@fp you like a director...
Same ones that told Sr. Managers to calm things down after the call sent everyone spinning. Time will tell.

Is this related to the store/retail org alone or are the people in corporate also on thin ice

Take a deep breath, folks.

Many of you would SU-K at playing poker... because you can't read between the lines of what was said to you.

Why would you have an All Hands call right now and say what was said with very little ambiguity, things like...

  • "this is nothing like 2023..."
  • "when we look at the org are we're like, friggin' ahhh, 17 doors per RDM which is Friggin' great!"
  • And, there is Walmart / Retail support that will likely grow with other "objectives" coming
  • You may recall, something was mentioned that would be going into Metro... a few things, actually. Things that will need SUPPORT IN THE FIELD. HELLLO??? THINK!!!
  • Let's not forget the "Issues" that have come up in the past where, without field support, it would have been an absolute SHYTE SHOW DISASTER, and that is NOT an exaggeration.

Now, if you have <10 doors or some super small number, does it make sense to rebalance that load elsewhere and ask you to try another role? Yes, it does. Could be the issue is at the Sr Mgr level as well - who knows.

And, it was also mentioned to be open to new things - so, there's that.

Bottom line is this - if they actually are STUPID enough to slash RDM roles / Metro by 30%+, well then they are incompetent psychopaths who lied to everyone last week.

They would be despised beyond words. That's not what is going on here, and it's not what will happen. Think about what they NEED for EXECUTION to reach GOALS and STOCK PRICE.

RDMs will survive and are not the target... they are scared not to have RDM support in the field to bail their butts out when "some new thing" shytes the bed for the past 6 months, and counting. Would you trust these systems without field support?

Well, they don't either. It scares them what could happen without RDM support.

Try to enjoy your Christmas, and... not for nuthin', and because they've thrown everyone into "limbo" and you've been thru this shyte before... be sure to "take a little bit back" for yourself this time of year as well.

You've damn well earned it..."Bypass" and all. ;)

@f2 no it wasn’t at all.

What he said is the scope of the org is in a good position but if you are in the middle of nowhere with a low door count you maybe looked at.

How does that translate to 20-30% cut and 20-30 door requirement?

@f2 No it was not. He said it won't be like a few years ago the scope will be fine but if you're in the middle of nowhere with a small number of stores it could be looked at.

How does that mean a store count of 20+ and 20-30% reduction?
