Part time jobs for EM retirees

For those of you who are on the fence about retiring or on the receiving end of a PIP, worry not. The current economy provides abundant options:

  1. Salad-to---r at Olive Garden. This should come naturally to many of you, and is one occupation where your EM skills are fully transferable.
  1. Meat-handler at Buckee’s. This is a role where all of your “hard-won” managerial skills that you’ve gained by making your way up the corporate ladder can be effectively leveraged.
  1. Dough massager at Dunkin’ Donuts. A perfect role for the REs/NREs. The intense attention to detail required will provide ample opportunities to utilize your decades of “institutional knowledge”.
  1. Ball-fetcher at Topgolf. This role is especially suitable for those with upper-level management experience. It will allow you to engage your “soft skills” in a dynamic and challenging environment.

These are only a few of the limitless number of opportunities with which the economy abounds. Your decades of service at EM have uniquely prepared you to excel in any or all of these roles (no computer skills required).

Best of luck to all, and have a joyous holiday season!

I'm retiring this year and already have a new job watching the price is right everyday while trying new coffee flavors and craft beers.

Seriously. It’s a little funny -only a little. But some people need to lighten up.

@nyp You would definitely be niche. DILF/GILF is actually a thing (don’t Google this, you won’t be able to un-see the search results).

Some people think they're really funny and they're not funny. Humor is like water in the desert for these folks. It comes as an absolute shock to them when you tell them to their face. So they post anonymously on the Internet.

@zct What great “skills” do you think you have?

The market value of a skill depends on how transferable and applicable it is. Keep that in mind when appraising your labor-market value.

I’ve never seen anyone at Exxon or any place like it perform any set of tasks that I would value above $150k annually. 80% of what you do is maintain existing systems.

I am thinking of retiring and all 4 of the jobs mentioned by @OP is too degrading for me.

So, I am seriously planning to get into the film industry and work as one of the up & cuming adult film stars. They say 65 is the new 25.

Sounds like you are you are bitter or a troll. So you spend your time hanging out on this site to attack anyone NRE. Your lack of skills is apparent. Stick to doing mindless computing work.
