The Real Check-In Message From Chucky and Fran

Chuck/Fran are telling you that if you were chosen to be LR'd that you are either a dummy that can't learn something new, you are too old, you make too much money, or are are not connected to any of the other unqualified ELT's

For 99% of the people I worked with there for over a decade I am in total agreement with this assessment. When I’m trying to explain first principles one could learn on a programmable calculator in the 1970s to Technical Leaders and Principal Software Engineers they’re well beyond remedial training.

Yes I was chosen because I am not connected to any unqualified certain country people in my team. oh well. Totally my fault I am not from that country and I do real work.

Staying at Cisco is not a good idea, unless you are about to retire. Your mental well being is not worth it.

Why would someone not LR'd look for another job?

  1. Continue to coast and maybe avoid getting LR'd for a few more years.
  1. Continue to up skill and maybe avoid getting LR'd for a few more years .
  1. If you are well paid, and are worried about LR maybe consider your outgoings in the event you have to re-job at a lower salary, and maybe start increasing that fallback account for any looking for work months needed.
  1. If the worst happens, you know the severance package will be generous.
  1. Jumping ship is going to still have risk, and with a much less severance package if it happens ( you will always be worried about this with any future employee as it's already spooked you once ).

As was posted before, if you think it's easy to leave and get another job, why not just wait out for that windfall!

Other message for those not LR'd this time is regardless of who you are, you should focus on getting a job outside Cisco for the sake of your family and health
