Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Layoffs in Network Construction

Ran into our district director today. He mentioned that TMO is expected to notify Crown that they're reducing the forecast for small cells going on air in 23 because of supply chain issues by as much as 40%. Separately, since Dish prefers using ILECs for the C-band fiber backhaul, the headcount for the Dish fiber program won't be needed. If these 2 worlds collide, layoffs will be announced by Feb 1st. It makes sense because it will allow enough time to get people off of payroll so they don't have to payout bonuses which are released on the first paycheck in March.

February 1st and all is well. It’s a shame because we come here for useful info but find nothing but garbage. There has yet to be an accurate layoff prediction on this site.

Because it's not true. It's made up. There was a decision whether or not they would have layoffs in October and instead they cut benefits and management raises. This isn't a secret. There's just some id--ts on here.

Calm down everyone. A person shared an opinion, where there you agree or disagree with it, spicing your posts with personal insults doesn’t make your arguments stronger. It can only get your post nuked by web admins as personal insults are not allowed here.

Cool - thanks for proving my point. I have a bunch of anonymous people that want to throw insults at me, pretend to be me, and waste space diluting/hiding what I’ve said under piles of irrelevant comments that have nothing to do with the topics in the rest of the thread.

You can call it narcissistic if you want to, but it doesn’t change the FACT that I’m the only one here that has people masquerading as my username. That speaks volumes.

Why you are posting on here outside of business hours to call me narcissistic?

Whatever. People will do anything to discredit me. Try emulating me, making straw man arguments and misrepresentations of what I write, saying I’m crazy, etc.

You smell fishy. People are smarter than you think. They know something is amiss, and you can hide behind anonymity - but that doesn’t stop people from sensing that something is off.

Napoleon said something like - don’t stop your enemies while they are making mistakes. Y’all already made the mistakes, and you can’t delete what you wrote. Calling me out only draws more attention to me. It is called the Streisand effect.

I have two questions: Did or will TMO notify us that they reducing the small call build?

Did or will DISH notify us that they are moving towards diversifying their back haul carriers?

The answers to those questions will tell us if there will be layoffs or not.

Another fake Bae J’Rown post? I never post on my off time. Why would this faker post on Sunday New Year day? Why can’t they take a day off?

Oddly enough, they aren’t spewing nonsense this time either. Mentioning brain drain and attrition? If this faker is upper management, HR, or not an individual contributor - then you have to wonder why they are speaking out.

@fdnt+1kdzCoCF After the terrible quarters that await all of telecom ( and US economy in 2023, you won’t be saying anything with certainty. Throw in the brain-drain Crown has experienced for the past year and Houston’s desire to become the nexus of all power, anything can happen. The days of the fiber cowboys are numbered. No one can justify the cost expenditures on PMs and CMs. Either it’s reined in or it’s cost is reduced through attrition.

Post ID: @fzqt+1kdzCoCF

I can say with absolute certainty that there will be NO layoffs at Crown in 2023. TMO is not reducing their small cell orders in 2023. DISH is not reducing their CBAND turn ups in 2023 and they will be using our fiber.

I can’t be anymore clear. This entire thread is false information. The same as the October layoff thread was WAY off (no matter how you try to play with the “IF” word).

@4uzl+1kdzCoCF, Crown doesn’t not trend in lock step with our competitors.

Crown 52w high was 209.87. Closed today at 133.81. Down 46% from the high.

AMT 52w high was 294.40. Closed today at 208.69. Down 29% from the high.

SBA 52w high was 391.15. Closed today at 278.35. Down 29% from the high.

Knowing those facts, how is crown trending at the level of its competitors?

Alright anon’s - if you want to understand the stock market, you have to accept the FACT that the markets are controlled by algorithms. Look at the meme stock baskets and you will see that KOSS, AMC, BBBY, GME, and many others are heavily correlated in market activity and not correlated at all in their scope of business operations.

The CFO says retail investors are not the ideal candidates to buy and hold CCI. This is why Elliot has as much sway as they do with crown. When big holders let go of CCI, there aren’t other whales waiting to jump in and hold the bag that was left behind. They plunge protection teams may purchase to reduce volatility, but that isn’t guaranteed. The plunge protection team is financed by taxpayer dollars.

As the market drops, we can expect to see more volatility trending in a negative trajectory. There is still a ways to go before CCI hits the bottom. The undeniable FACT is that these whales want their money to grow - they don’t care about the damage they leave behind. The whales will gladly sell CCI to hold DJIA, SPY, or any other stock that offers a higher rate of return than whatever stock they are currently holding.

Crown underestimated the time and resources needed to site DAS in communities and how much it costs to build fiber to connect them. Simple as that.

"Based on the stock price, investors are no longer buying that our capital outlay for small cells is worth the return"

If the correlation is stock price/small cell please explain why Crown trades lock step in barrel with American Tower & SBA . I think it's more market sentiment.

Based on the stock price, investors are no longer buying that our capital outlay for small cells is worth the return. On every one of our earnings calls this year, the earnings were a result of the tower business. Crown has been saying that small cells will produce positive financial results. Just wait and see. Well, the investors are tired of waiting. They’re moving on. And if you’re smart, you will move on form Crown too.

This is not true. My position was cut in 2020 and I received a prorated bonus. Everyone who was cut also received a prorated bonus.

@1vsx+1kdzCoCF, you really think that Crown has an iron clad contract that forces TMO to pay us even if the nodes don’t go in air?

I have a friend in south Florida who was part of the original TMO small cell program that started in 2018. They built fiber at a rapid pace finishing pretty much 90% of the plan in anticipation of TMO turning up sites in the next few years. They spent millions in design, permitting and construction. Fast forward to 2020 when the new director comes on board (his name has been mentioned in other threads) and he begins to question why so much was built without solid TMO on air dates.

Why did this director make such a big stink over the capital spend? It’s because the revenue from TMO wasn’t guaranteed. Even if Crown has a solid legal case to force payment, there are only 3 major wireless carriers. Crown isn’t going to burn a bridge with such a big customer.

@1vsx+1kdzCoCF, sprint had a contract as well and you saw how fast TMO paid to settle out and be done with it. Crown knows they couldn’t enforce a lease on those nodes. Just the same, TMO can reduce their forecast for 23 and there’s not much Crown an do about it. Crown can try to sue but TMO will tie it up in litigation for the next 5 years. Meanwhile Crown loses both revenue and the relationship with one of the big 3 carriers. Crown EMT isn’t d-mb. They will just cut heads and bring everybody back as VWAs when TMO is ready.

You all live in a world that I’m grateful I don’t. The negativity is just sad. Is this really your life? You come on this site and just spread fear? I would recommend speaking to a professional or a Lyra visit, I do wish you all would just enjoy a bit more happiness. You really think a District Director knows what TMO is going to do? We have a contract…a legally binding contract…that they will be following and it’s set up with milestones that they have to give us nodes each year over the next several years. If they don’t, we bill revenue.

I don’t disagree that the economy is retracting, but it’s unbelievable to me how folks on this site live in a world of negativity and hysteria. If you’d like, I’d love to bet you that there will be zero layoffs on Feb 1st.

Start looking into over-employment, quiet quitting, polishing the resume, paying off high interest debt, and restructuring your finances. Moving in with family might not be a bad idea. The economy is going to experience pain.

When Q1 comes around, people will find out how poorly the economy has been running. Overseas shipping is getting beaten down right now, people don’t have extra cash to buy Chinese garbage toys, and the consumer economy has no cash to consume with.

It doesn’t feel good seeing information like this come out. This information is in alignment with everything else I’ve been seeing and researching. Prepare yourself before it is too late. NFA. Stay safe everyone.
