For those of you that signed that retention agreement after last year's (or a previous year) bonus and you've quit, what actually happened? We signed to say that we'd pay it back, but what actually happened?

don't give notice, they withhold pay that way, on your last day just say deuces, i'm out.
@f3 letter from attorney. paid back pre-tax amount. 45 days to return the money.
@f2 can you define "had" and how you paid it back? Did the withhold your last check? Or did you pay them after you left? Was it pre-tax or post-tax? Did they send you a letter from an attorney or collections or something?
@am i had to pay it back
I know people who left and still haven’t paid them back a dime!
grade 11 and above WHO met or exceeds expectations
At what oat grade was this? I'm grade 7 and it doesn't exist. Have not seen a bonus since 2022.
@ct I understand that's how it's supposed to work but I'm interested in the logistics. How does the cash get 'paid back' - does it come out of your last check?
Cash portion - pay back prorated.
Stock portion - it will be unvested.
While it may not make up for the valuation lost due to tanking stock price, it is a token of faith in both employees with potential and also the company’s future. YMMV. It is what it is.
Rentention bonus? I can hardly retain the contents of my bladder!
@a8 yeah I'm just wondering how it works logistically. I was talking with a friend who had a similar bonus structure at a different company. She left and she was making payments back to the company after she left. After a couple months she just stopped and they never followed up with her.
@af 'signed legal document' and 'enforcible contract' are two separate things.
Did you pay it back or did they take it out of your check?
I quit and paid it back because it was a signed legal document.
its 2k-3k that too as stock and you need to stay 18 months, are you kidding?
if you have find a better job with better pay move on..they dont value anyone.
for years people abused with low pay, low bonus, excess work and now layoffs as well...
