AT&T's marketing strategy is and always has been (at least on the wireless side) to try and copy what works for the other two carriers. AT&T's marketing people spend their days cranking out documents no one pays any attention to other than themselves, while trying to convince themselves what they do matters. Lots of expendables on their org chart for sure.
With the marketing budget cut by 30%-60% only makes sense. This part of the business needs a shake-up, the arrogance and lack of response and accountability within the marketing organization has always been perplexing to me.
The entire Consumer Marketing organization could be replaced with crash dummies and the rest of the company would never notice. Corporate wasteland.
marketing should be outsourced to new talented experts with up to date fresh ideas in America and not kept in-house in stagnant old goat dept.
AT&T will let go of a few hundred employees as the season of tech layoffs hits another big company. No impact to the business.
