Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Why no official news from the company

Are we going to be getting official memo saying how many were laid off ??

Why start now after a decade of hiding our shame with failed leader strategies. Thank goodness our leaders get golden parachute no matter how they do or drive their teams to oblivion. I suspect if we pull all bonuses from failed leaders, we don’t have to layoff or restack headcounts

Our director said 10-15%. Not sure if that’s true or if that was even supposed to be thrown out there?

The organization is incapable of honesty and real transparency.

There is a way. You can find out from Outlook.

  1. Find the Group email for your area. Everyone area has one, typically for town halls and large meetings etc. There may be hundreds of names.
  2. highlight all and copy all of the email addresses and put in a word doc. This will be your base list incase the company trims the group emails as they let people go.
  3. Each month or whatever frequency you want, create a meeting invite and add all of the names you copied from the word doc to it (don't be the fool that sends out the invite)
  4. Go to Scheduling Assistant and go down the invite and you'll see who's here and who is not. You can hover over names, which will have blank details, or simply see the grayed out lines across their calendar.

You won't know who was laid off or who left voluntarily, but you can get a good idea of how many people have left.

Nope, you will find when you are sending an email to a coworker and you will get an invalid address or out of the office email, while their discharge date becomes effective.

No company ever does this. They want it a secret. And why would you think a company like this with all of the darkness around it, would actually volunteer this info...

@OP I was with Optum for 16 years and they never released layoff numbers to my knowledge.
