@z4 how’d this work out? Sounds like an advanced and ethically sound methodology

@193 wow, are you a reclassified DM? Sit at home and write emails? Watch and see how fast your good ftow stay good! They will turn on you so fast, sitting at home while they do all the real work. Yeah, keep dreaming!

So are your 3 good ftows staying forever or are they going to get a job above the pocket level

@193 until they move your ftow to another territory that needs them! They don’t work for you, they work for Mondelez! Watch and see.

I have 3 good ftows so you people that say it will be a nightmare and to run are just jealous, I’ll be sitting at home sending emails and texts and hardly doing any real work and stop in stores time to time.

@dy that’s the same thing mission one was suppose to be for us reps minus the scheduling and hiring but we never got there due to no help or ftow quoting after the large territories and more stores .. I already have 19 stores in mission 1 and it su-ks .. how may more would I get as a rtm?

Mondelez will save so much money having the RTM throw all the orders and not paying OT!

@yv previously for our team that person was the bartender at our DM’s favorite drinking hole. Always knew we could find him there when he didn’t answer his phone or reply to emails or texts. What a guy! Usually had a “rising star” as Mondelez labeled the young women they wanted to promote, sitting on the bar stool next to him.

Who forms the RTM report to? DM? Is there a new role in between rtm and dm

Only a mo--n would want to work somewhere that they would have to commit and invest themselves like an owner, while they get paid peanuts, and told what to do.

I'm lacing up my shoes right now because I actually have respect for myself, and I'm not desperate.

I feel terribly sorry for anyone that feels trapped into accepting the RTM job. Pretty soon Mondelez will be on the hook to paying their employees reparations, if you know what I mean...

@wd spot on! That’s why they are putting that responsibility on the rtm.
Good luck, nightmare sounds about right!

Ftows around here quit by the month. Hard to keep anyone unless they've been here forever. We are always shorthanded so RTM will be a nightmare

Post ID: @wd+1khpr99d3

@qp sounds like you should start to lace up those running shoes. The mentality needed for RTM is for someone to act like an owner just like running your own business. Nabisco reps did this for years and were very successful!! If someone is worried about OT pay you’re meant for an hourly role somewhere not a management position. Hope it all works out for ya

50k ( with average bonus) to put up cookies and cr--kers? Are you kidding me? It's a wonder we're still in business.
DSD is very profitable though.

At least this makes more sense than mission 1

Also a few less stores isnt going to make up for double the work you're going to do with no OT. Id run from the job if they make the changes here

Well around me they hire at 17/hr which is like 35k. You can make more at Walmart. 50k is absolutely nothing in today's economy also

My ftows make almost 50 Grand a year
All good here.
Looking Forward to the smaller territory more pay almost to 75 grand

You absolutely will only be as good as your help. Problem is you won't find good help paying $17/hr. That needs to be bumped way up if you want to find and retain good help.

We will only be as good as the people we are working with. The meetings focused heavily on coaching. Finding quality help is essential. A big concern is trade funding. The sale promotions might not improve this year.

These restructures are always made to get rid of the ones who have been here 10,20+ years. You become a liability when you been here for awhile. Also when they change the title of the position it's so they can control the pay. Ftow are basically sales reps but they call you a ftow so they can pay you half what you're worth. Sales reps are territory managers but they also pay you half your worth. CHEAP company. Move on.

Most everything on here is pretty much correct. What most don't know except for the few with over 25 years with the company is that this was something that was done before. The only difference is that when it was done back then was that the reps that were being let go were given a least a quarter notice. The company helped them pay for tuition if they chose to enroll in some kind of academic program and even helped with job referrals for those looking for other employment. The catch was to stay until launch date and help transition the new hires into their new roles. Sales reps became territory managers and merchandisers became retail reps. Everyone got a small bump in pay. Alot of merchandisers were not happy about the amount of pay they were offering and left but the company didn't care because they had already flooded the market with tons of help. The problem was that new help had almost zero experience in retail sales. The new structure lasted exactly one year before needing to be redone once again. Everyone was able to step back into their old roles and I'd be lying if I said they didn't try a bunch more unsuccessful programs again afterwards. Over 30 years later I see history repeating itself. Good luck to us all.

They often use events like this to get rid of the top earners, those are likely the older ones on the team. Age discrimination is everywhere. Exactly what these goons deserve, a big fat class action!

@gp there’s a lot of reasons why someone who doesn’t want to be a rtm may take the role, here’s a few….
Take the time they want to find a new job.
Keep health benefits while they look, health benefits will terminate at the end of the month they would take the severance. Although this would be a qualifying event to get marketplace insurance, Mondelez was paying a big chunk of their premiums.
At the max end of the severances, 26 weeks of pay will go fast! It’s a lump sum.
You forfeit your right to sue, you’d be surprised if you exercised your right to see the demographics of who is terminated! You have the right to know anything protected by the eeoc, age, race, religion, age etc! I hope someone burns this company one day!

Did they adjust the territores for the RTM structure? Like make them smaller or is it it for the most part pretty similar?

@gs: I’m not “enthusiastic” as to say… it just worked out better for me as in a smaller territory, with losing about 11 stores, and no more 2 hour drive to get to some of them. Do I believe it’s a good call by them? Not really. They tell us they believe in the “power” of dsd, but from what I’ve seen with Kelloggs, and forcing their pallet displays into Walmart, our areas biggest customer, and Walmart putting those up on end caps and side kicks…. Meanwhile we get nothing… I feel that’s the way to go, not dsd. Also i know some of the RTMs will take advantage of the role and be lazy and not do much. I believe as you do, this will all just be a big fail eventually. I’m just rolling with it for now, cause like i said, for me personally i have a decent team and a smaller territory to deal with now. In another few years this could all be over. They just keep dragging out the dsd thing it seems.

@gn While I admire your enthusiasm, this will be another epic failed attempt to save money for Mondelez. They are struggling as an organization for many reasons and this latest re organization is a reaction and not a proactive move. Zero chance this will work, field employees will be so tapped out in no time. Love how they RMSs had no option, take the new role or walk away with no severance. Shows how much they truly care.

Also one more thing…. There are some reps out there that took the rtm position that should not be a manager and i know a couple of them…. If you don’t want to manage take the severance…..

by

Post ID: @gp+1khpr99d3

The severance is 2 weeks pay up to two year’s of service, 3 weeks up to 3 year’s, 4 weeks up to 4, 5 weeks up to 5 years , then if you’ve been there over 5 years it’s 2 weeks pay every year you’ve been there, 26 weeks max. Plus they pay out your remaining pto. So if you’ve been there 10 years you’d get 20 weeks pay, but it maxes out at 26 weeks so the most you’re going to get paid is at 13 years for 26 weeks, half a years pay. They are also hiring more ftows and ptms, they are investing a lot of money into this. Your territorys success is all going to be about how good your team is, and i know there’s a lot out there that aren’t very good…. I’m one of Mondelēz haters out there but i feel i got a good deal with a smaller territory and my people are pretty decent.

@dy that nuts! They can’t handle the business with the people they have now, you know there will be calls offs and personnel shortages. That $10k bump is because you are going to be working 60 hrs a week with no end in sight! No way I’d take that, you’d make more money at McDonalds if you do the math!

North East region here…. Reps are no more as you obviously know. We will be retail territory managers, doing the rms duties, of approving payroll and scheduling ftows with ideploy (which will be going away soon). We will do the hiring and training of ptm and ftow. We will be sales as well, not we will NOT be doing any ordering (major cringe )only the ftows will. Every week we must do “coaching” hours with each of them. We wont be be throwing up loads at all unless we are training someone or have no other choice and no one to do it ( someone calls off, others can’t pick up the slack). They bumped yearly salary by 10k for me, it is a salary position, no OT. You will not have to clock in at all and the only thing tracking you being in the stores is the pitcher app. You will have a company car still. You must still sell in displays but have ftow order for it (eye roll), and there’s the jist of it.
