Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Comments about leadership

If this company had leadership that knew how to run the business everyone would be crying all the time. Saying things like they “expect me to work”, “show up on time”, “dress in a professional manner”, “ meet business metrics that that require more than just showing up”. Employees greed and laziness is another big problem with this company.

Of course non bargained for positions will be lost, that’s a given! The bargained for jobs especially those out in the field, now that’s a whole different story! Those jobs aren’t going anywhere and there’s currently a shortage of those techs. T needs to hire more next quarter, not layoff! So, your dream of 5/5/5 is never gonna happen!

Oh, there will offers. Offers to give Sanjeep Patel and his friends the work from home and non bargained jobs. You just couldn't do the needful... Tank-Q.

There will be no offers.

See, this is right out of the mouth of Stankey! So, there you go, no early retirement packages to the T technicians or whatever bargained for personnel you say are getting one in March!

Absolutely cannot wait for that 5-5-5 enhanced buyout offer in March. The wife is already booking a retirement vacay!!!

Dude, you probably don't even work for ATT and you're on this site to spread rumors that will just never happen. T doesn't need to make offers to the bargained for personnel cuz they usually drop off on their own once they reach 62 or 66. This rumor monger that keeps proliferating this falsehood just made this up to see how people react to it!

If Stankey hadn't been right in the middle of some of the biggest corporate sc--w ups ever, I might generally agree with you. However, the T-Mobile and Time Warner fiascos cost AT&T probably 40 billion dollars. Let's do the math. Let's divide $40B/130K employees ... equals $307,692 and to be fair, let's distribute that over 10 years. The equivalent loss of $30,769 per employee per year for ten years!!!!!!!!!!!! That's about 75% of the average annual employee salary. Employee productivity isn't the problem here when our a55h0l3 executive loose far money than any issue with productivity could lose. Time for some competent leadership. The Stink has stunk and has to go!!!

OP. I have been watching this board for a couple of months and want to say you have a bit of a point. There is an awful lot of whining that goes on here. To my knowledge, if you invest in AT&T's 401K, all matching funds go into AT&T stock. That makes you a shareholder in AT&T. Why people who work here say things like they will do little to nothing, or be a drain on the company, is beyond me. While leadership sucks, how many of these people with stock in AT&T even bothered to fill out the proxy form for the shareholders meeting this year? Also, if you hate the company that much, do minimal work, and get laid off, I don't feel sorry for you. You admitted you were nothing but a resource drain. We are better without you. Furthermore, one wonders how many employees of this company, or any company for that matter, asks how they can do their job better and provide better service. I have no control over what this company does, but I do have control over what I do. Improvement begins at an individual level. If you think this is a bad company, but you stay here to leech off of it, you have justified the layoffs being performed by leadership. Leave this place, or get to work, but whichever you choose, do it quickly.

I agree with some of what you are saying until you got to business metrics. The tools att had for measuring productivity, how inaccurate they are and how those tools became the main goal of some groups is one of the most misguided things I've ever seen in an organization.

My leadership thought process is take care of your employees and they will take care of you.
Instead AT&T leadership is more like the “haves” and the “have nots” our society has unfortunately suffered. For example, my suit raved on a town hall call last week how he gets “energized” going into the office is why he mandated everyone report to the office everyday. Yet, all the other direct reports suits were working at home on the same call? Hmm
Last year they took vacation away, bonuses, and made clear no healthcare when you retire to incentivize many to leave.
Is it me or do we have different leadership methodology?

Seriously, require office employees to wear att brand, day in and day out to give att a united front. Like all the brainwashing methods that work today in politics.
