Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon Board f Directors

Vz Board of Directors are current CEOs (Starbucks and PayPal) so how do they have time to focus on vz. The others looks like retirees from Aetna and Procter n Gamble. Only one has telecom experience from Vodafone in Europe and he was just added. Looks like t mobile’s board are mostly men, most have a extensive telecom background or security background and most are from Deutsche Telekom on the timo bod and one from India Airtel. Definitely more impressive than the Verizon BODs. But vz wins the diversity award.
Vz needs to focus on adding experienced, high caliber people to leadership roles and the board. Look where esg and dei has gotten us.

BOD are people who meet basically once or twice a year and vote on something. Usually they are other CEO’s of other companies. They get company shares for their troubles. One hand washes the other type deal. This is another thing that should get abolished. Complete nonsense

American corporations care about 3 things:

  • reducing taxes
  • reducing labor costs
  • acquiring competitors

The BOD needs expertise in these three areas. Telecom knowledge is inconsequential

Shareholders elect BOD. I guess VZ shareholders not the sharpest investors.

With that type of experience on the t mobile board , Verizon doesn’t stand a chance to claw back all the market share lost in 2022.

VZW BoD doesn't own barely any shares in the company either.

Here is WHY so many BOD are telecom executives at T Mobile.

How much of T Mobile does Deutsche Telekom own?
As a result of the two deals announced on Tuesday, Deutsche Telekom will raise its stake in T-Mobile US by 5.3% to 48.4%, bringing CEO Tim Hoettges closer to his goal of securing direct control over the $170 billion U.S. telecoms operator.
