Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Retail Poll How you truly feel?

Why retail is failing isn't due to Verizon as a whole but how we staff our stores. We have GM's that would rather look good than care for their employees. We still have tenure Employees that still use their work devices as personal and I know for sure if we really looked into their Concession devices we would find a lot that Verizon wouldn't want.

Who has a GM for maybe?? 30 minutes on the floor?? they would rather be on the phone in the office or outside. We say, make a change but when you have employees in their positions for 8+ 10+ 15+ years are they really progressing, or are they the cause of why Verizon is failing? Seems to me that they are the cause...

DM's are so out of place on how their GM's really act it's a shame.

How many of your managers still act like this?
It's embarrassing...

Don’t have this problem with my Gm, my DM that’s another story- he has no clue and only knows how to harass my managers.

The whole VZW sales structure is built upon the sales, the upgrade, the add-on. If you walk in one of their store seeking assistance, or for a simple touch-down they make you feel "unwanted". The latter is specifically true when they understand that the Customer is a fellow employee where, probably, their commissions are at stake. Their website is a trap, it's a go on => on => on kind of thing, there is no go back. Every time I roam it, I feel like there is a trap at every click. The whole structure is built to sell - the Customer as entity means nothing to them.

The tenured employees keep our store afloat, newbs come and go so fast you can't keep up, and if they do stick around they call off at least one shift a week. GM sit in the office all day and ams are doing all the work, and none of us are getting paid. Verizon is failing because the people at the top have no idea what is going on in a store. You can't keep cutting pay and adding work load and expect to keep good employees, you can't staff a store that needs 12 people to run smoothly with 5, you can't expect to bring on new employees that will perform and care about the job when we are paying cr-p wages and hiring 19 year olds. Someone doing something on their concession device is not driving our stick down, the person using their work device for personal calls isn't in charge of our network that is now second class, the tenured employees aren't the ones raising rates and adding bogus fees to customers bills all the while knowing people are leaving in droves because we are over priced. Verizon is failing because the company doesn't listen to it's employees or it's customers.

Sound like you’re in arizona :p GM’s on the west it’s all about who you know and doing the least possible just running your AM’s to the ground while you get the glory.
