Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

RTO

Is this being reported on? Four days in the office is too much, the low morale in the office is ki-ling me.

The ELT has the attention span of a fly. They have already moved on from RTO.

@j6 It's not just a flexibility.

People bought homes, rented places during that policy. People who are too far away now have less options. A lot happened inbetween covid and now. Maybe it wasn't the best decision, but RTO was marketed as potentially permanent. I won't judge those folks on that. My prediction worked out, but still I won't judge them for theirs. OT itself recognized that by not making it an instant 5 days once things were safe.

It also means one less thing ensuring OT attracts talent. Because the best get the privilege to compete or leave for better offers asap. That's not just pay, not that OT pays well.

So yes, people will be leaving, get laid off etc, and despite the attitude of spoiled milk I genuinely hope you don't lose anyone nor that it ends up making your job harder. Because when the people you need leave, it hits you too. And those jobs statistically aren't coming back to NA/EU.

Suffering should not be a rite of passage. Have the day you deserve.

Seriously, why is everyone moaning. Get back into the office or leave. It's not like this wasn't the policy all along. Y'all just crying because you no longer have a flexibility you didn't deserve in the first place.

So the manager will get fired if their minions don’t come in for all 4 days?

@b4 honestly my team doesn't even do that.

In office, still all meetings vis teams.

All they care about is that you badge in and attend any team meeting live

@a2 no the sheet is real.

But some managers still ask for an 'im in office' email.

There's 3 types of manager apparently -
2 that have different ways to micromanage and one that just trusts you to not f*ck it up for them or anyone leaving early.

Second hand, so take this for what it's worth. Manager (and Directors etc...) have a dashboard that they're expected to check regularly for compliance.

Still second hand, "they're not focused on hours yet, just days. Not tied into productivity metrics in anyway, yet."

Just think of it as another lever they can pull to reduce headcount/costs.

Sorry
