Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Merry Christmas!

I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas before I 'unplug' for the weekend. It has been a hard few months for all of us and I know the coming months will be just as hard, but I have no doubts that we'll all be okay in the end, whatever happens. Try to get the maximum out of the holidays since we'll need our batteries fully recharged!

sleep at night laying off thousands just few days prior to Christmas.

Cry me a river. No employees were laid off just a few days prior to Christmas. They were notified 2 weeks before Christmas they were being laid off and the entire company was notified that it was happening back in Nov.

Their layoff date, to be decided by the employee is either in Feb or Mar depending on the option they take.

Remember the huge LR of 2016 that was 6 or 7% of the employees, that was announced during the earnings call and employees were notified the very next morning with no notice? Their severance & COBRA benefits ended in Nov or Dec instead of starting in Feb or Mar. Didn't hear as many complaints about that style LR and being unemployed at Christmas.

And, yes, I know they're not employees, but the contractors are the ones getting royally shafted. They get told to go home immediately, no notice, no severance. In some cases, their vendors pay their health benefits weekly and terminate them at midnight of their last day at work, so they aren't even covered until the end of the month like Cisco does its employees. Nobody complains about the "injustice" or unfair treatment of them. Cisco doesn't give their vendors notice, so they can't give notice to their employees, and due to the capitalistic nature of things now, vendors don't even keep their employees on the "bench" for 2 weeks while they try to find them another contract in lieu of notice.

Sure, this LR sucks, but it's way better than the year-end one's have been handled that had no notice and your benefits ended in Dec. Plus, the lump sum severance in the 4th quarter of the tax year would push you into a higher tax bracket for that year.

Did anyone get their holiday turkey?

Is there anyone here old enough to remember DECturkeys and the wonderful branded boxes they came in?

because the leaders are master manipulators... most would be classified as narcissists or psychopaths. they have zero empathy

how can these people so called "leaders", beacon of social justice, tolerance, etc.. sleep at night laying off thousands just few days prior to Christmas. I personally know 4 LRed folks who dedicated their lives to the company, lost many PTO hours every year giving heart and sould to grinding daily. Lesson to be learned. Family, yourself more important.

He is probably focused on more woke initiatives that will drive Cisco further into the irrelevance.

Merry Christmas! Agreed, we need our batteries fully charged to start our new jobs outside of Cisco. I notice Chuck didn’t send a holiday email this year. He’s pretty much missing in action. Shows up to the first five minutes of check ins then he checks out.
