I can't focus on work at all while rumors are circulating and cuts are hanging over my head. If only I knew which groups will be most impacted...

yeah att is a terrible environment. there is no sanity and is a terrible company.
Everyone is expendable If you are bringing in revenue you stand a better chance of staying. If you are writing M&P, or maintaining spreadsheets there is no need to keep you.
All groups that WFH.
Management at all lower and middle levels will be impacted like someone that ate the whole cheese ball at Christmas. They will need an en--a after January.
The C-suite will be impacted, bigger raises and bonuses for them after right sizing, spreading the peanut butter around.
8-8-8 is gonna be great
Hang tight. 5-5-5. Is on the way. If you’re not an old timer, this offer will hopefully clear some space for you. Just ignore the naysayers. Best wishes for a happy career!
Layoffs have been happening for many many decades in this industry and will continue to do so. Fact of life... just is!
Business Field Services seems to be a business unit that has some growth and will hardly be impacted by any layoffs. As a matter of fact, several states are looking to hire more technicians even during a hiring freeze. These bargained for positions are quite safe and will be for some time to come. As for management, it's anybody's guess!
Layoffs are so common at att. Even if you survive this round, there will probably continue to be a regular cycle of layoffs. Understandable to not want to deal with that all the time. Try to find a job with another company before you have to.
I don’t think anyone here can answer that question with any certainty. What we do know is that significant cuts are coming in 2023. Multiple leaders in various orgs have communicated this to their groups. Best to just prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Keep expenses low, pay down/pay off any debt you may have, and ensure that you have an adequate emergency fund. Best of luck to all in the coming year!
what group are you in and will tell you if you are at risk.
The fact of the matter is if you're a non-bargained for employee, you're at risk. If you're a bargained for employee, then you have a much greater chance of remaining employed by T for the next 3-5 years at least!
They are not rumors
