Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Fire the Verizon advertising company for terrible commercials

There are many issues that have contributed over the years to the significant decline of Verizon and its stock: poor leadership, poor leadership decisions and self serving consultants that we pay millions to for their strategic guidance and expertise. But the Verizon commercials and marketing have always been just awful, cringe worthy and not clever. Vz shells out $$$$$ for Jamie fox (remember that one), the female comedians from Saturday Night Live, Jim Carey, Paul giamatti etc. Waste of money?

Verizon commercials are hi-hum. It's like your father's Oldsmobile. Tired brand that has lost its luster. Only way up is more youthful, US based leadership.

@mxj great quote by bezos: your margin is my opportunity. T mobile grabbed vz market share and now vz is really struggling and will have a difficult 2023. I think it was bob iger of Disney that once said, “easy to be number one but hard to stay number one.”

This is probably one of the best commercials in a while for Spectrum security products and they probably paid very little and it’s really good and memorable. Verizon has never spent a dime on marketing our security portfolio and all the wireless commercials are meh 💰+🗑=📉

Creative marketing is terrible at VZ. They pay agencies to literally do everything. I don’t know how DS gets away with it. “So your job is to figure out how to pay other people to do your work…” imagine if sales was like, “hey can’t we just pay someone to sell stuff for us? And then we can win a ton of awards and show them off on our instagram!!!” It is a crime how much money they spend on commercials, videos, flyers, etc. Meanwhile sales has to hold a g*n to someone’s head to fix something in our point of sales system. But yeah, let’s pay $15m to pay Snooki to do a commercial with the “get’er done guy from the 90’s, that’s DEF a really good use of our money. I swear, DS must have dirt on HV or something because he is terrrrrrible….but yeah nice loafers and skinny jeans pal.

I think the commercials are better now.
And I think the brunette they are now using is easy on the eyes.

Verizon was and still is the leader in subscriptions? I guess it worked? At a huge subscription premium to everyone else too. Now there's a price war and T-Mobile has spectrum thanks to Sprint, so all that nice margin has evaporated. What was it that Jeff Bezos said? Your margin is my opportunity. VZ has to trim the fat now that everyone has a smartphone and Internet, and fiber doesn't mean much for non-business as a profit center. Verizon may as well get out of retail altogether and just wholesale everything to MVNOs for consumer wireless. Focus on what the company is good at.
