What happens to one’s health insurance after being laid off? Does anyone know?

Has anyone taken the Nike paid COBRA coverage? I signed up for it today but it's alarming that in the Wageworks system it says "participant paid" and I'm on the hook for a $2400 monthly bill to cover everything for the 4 members of the family. Are we supposed to pay and get reimbursed or does Nike pay directly? If they pay directly how long does it take? Kaiser let us know that we are canceled and we're wondering how long before we're reinstated.
I’m not sure if it’s a given that Nike will pay for Cobra for 6 months, but you should be offered Cobra for up to 18 months. Having to pay for it isn’t cheap, but probably cheaper than elsewhere. I’m paying $870 (includes health, dental, and vision).
6 months of COBRA coverage paid by Nike (6 months from official termination date). I was laid off in February, termination date was April, Civra coverage until end of October
Sadly, it’s pretty simple- You will no longer have Health Insurance provided by Nike. Nike will offer COBRA Coverage.
Sometimes this COBRA insurance coverage is paid for by Nike for a specific amount of time.
After that, you can pay for the COBRA coverage out of pocket- which is usually less expensive that going to the Health Care marketplace negotiate for coverage.
You usually get the insurance until the end of the month and then the company pays for COBRA coverage for 6 months. So nothing really changes for at least 6 months. Then you can choose to continue to pay on your own under COBRA
