Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Valuation & Growth

Has anyone checked the growth of TDC and compared it to SNOW? Although I agree the board members and c-suite are asleep at the wheel, what is your rationale for hating Teradata but loving Snowflake? The numbers speak for themselves — they’re both sh-t companies:

      TDC       SNOW

1M +18% -5%
3M +10% -16%
6M +6% -46%
1Y +37% -16%
2Y -21% -13%
5Y -26% -31%
10Y +7% -41%

@17z Because they treated me and many others horribly and we enjoy watching it spiral in.

@17z I have many friends/co-workers that remain on staff at TDC - many have left but some remain. While it was difficult in some ways to leave 25+ years with TDC, I, much like many TDC veterans, had most of our lives in TDC watching it grow from a very small startup to a major innovator in the EDW space. That all died starting around 2015 and it is a shame to see this once great company shrink to a shadow of itself.

@14k
You left TDC 7 years ago but spend time posting here?
Why?

@td SNOW did their IPO Sept 2020. These metrics are infantile for a lot of reasons...but making any comparison between a company that is loosing customers hand over fist AND revenue mostly flat/declining to that of SNOW where revenue is nearing $5B and increasing by 30% year-over-year is absolutely ridiculous. I left TDC 7 years ago for SNOW and so glad I left when I did.

All the genius fellows gather. Please focus your laser on these data. Keep the analysis going. You are doing great. Nation is safe. Teradata is tired of winning. Look, shiny object go fetch those %.

@t9 when did SNOW IPO?

@r8 These are rolling gains/losses from the time the stock was analyzed. You might want to try critical thinking before criticizing OP, genius.

See, first of all, I don't know from where you are getting these statistics, because this stock is not even 10 years old? It doesn't even exist for that long. And secondly, each and every stat you have given all of them are wrong. Whether you are comparing absolute numbers, or whether you are comparing with previous time period, both ways it is wrong

This is the same thing that the first comment was also trying to tell you. He was saying he will not trust you with data analytics, and frankly, I also agree with him

I’m not sure it’s love for SNOW. It’s simply comparison between peers.

@bj tbf if they still work for TD they’re likely to be pretty far from real world data and analytics

@cv Hahahaha. The id--ts in charge are predicting a revenue loss YOY. That’s the corner you’re turning…down a dead end.

@cv The "hate b0ner" you so colorfully reference isn't aimed at TDC as a company, it's squarely aimed at the C-suite geniuses whose spectacular talent for poor strategic and technical decision-making somehow never threatened their own employment. I spent 4 and a half years watching hundreds of genuinely talented people get blindsided and escorted out the door annually through zero fault of their own, while the executives directly responsible for the mess collected their bonuses, made stock buybacks a priority, and nodded gravely about unfortunate "headwinds". I eventually left on my own terms, mostly because letting TDC play Russian roulette with my career every freaking year lost its charm. The current C-suite and Board shakeup should have happened 6 rounds of layoffs ago. . . and let's be honest, it's only happening now because a heavy hitting activist investor finally got tired of watching the same disaster movie over and over again. Nothing says "accountability" quite like needing an outside shareholder to force the obvious.

People here tend to have a hate bo--r for Teradata, cannot expect rational conversation here. End of the day it's a challenging market but TDC is rounding the corner and heading in the right direction. We've shifted from on prem hardware to being a leader in the cloud
