Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Do they ever layoff wireless? Or is it wireline only that gets laid off?

Just curious

Wireless is no longer 'protected' from RIFFs. They get them just the same as wireline.

VZW has layoffs every year, mostly older employees. Within three months they hire someone younger from a country outside the U.S. to refill the position so the net layoff is zero.

Thanks to SDN(Software Defined Network),NFV(Network Functions Virtualization) and automated scripting to name a few, wireless is very easy to implement these technologies in order to automate. The only place you really need people is to troubleshoot faults, hands on equipment(replace/install/power).

People complain about outsourcing but the real enemy of employment is the automation process.
