Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

TRUIST AI LOL

It might actually be good for truist when the llm circlej bubble pops, as they haven't been able to waste that much money on it yet.

Anyone that thinks ai is "good" for most of the tasks for which it is being proposed, fundamentally does not understand what it means to be human, nor do they understand ai beyond "I need to gobble and push this to keep my job." Dogsh!t code, lies constantly. If you are an expert in your field and quiz it, this becomes apparently immediately.

@138 This is pretty much our manager who is desperately trying to make our team use it when it doesn't serve a purpose for our role. Even going so far as to have one on one's to talk about how best to use Co-Pilot in our day to day lmao

Why do they hand re--rds departments they dont understand?

@1p0 jeez, forge already lost someone!? you mean the bean didn't make a stalk that lead to shareholder value in the sky? Purple beans drive future efficiencies, bean up y'all.

Who is going to be the first brave teammate to claim religious exemption against using ai at work? Seems immoral to force someone to use something against their sincerely held beliefs. And it is definitely illegal.

The data organization is very sad. Folks there who can do something are not empowered but folks who do not want to do anything new are CDOs. Heard forge lost a leader. Maybe we get someone from Microsoft

They have an unfounded belief it will drive efficiencies across the bank.

What are the other use cases? I heard that they were forcing some product teams ti use it to write features and use cases

From what I understand, the bubble will mostly impact the tech industry, not necessarily banks and other firms using it.

Of course, if Truist is self hosting these LLMs, then that is a whole other story and a lot of those AI Specialized jobs will take a big hit.

And before that happens, Steve Hagerman would have long been gone.
