Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Here we go again!

Another round of Allstate Asks where Zulfi tells us that they want to know what we think, but then they complain (and target you) if we don't give them the answers that they want.

My take. There’s so little actual AI in place nor understood to make a material impact on the things that actual should be leveraging AI vs. automation that it’s turned into a smoke show of ideas and uses case that little to no value, but hey look at me.

You are better off not to take it. It's not mandatory.

Some of the comments here reflect what we are all facing from the leaders. This is such a top-down org with inflated egos.

Z in the ATS meeting is saying engineers need to figure out “how-to” once they know “what” of the outcome. Then WTF are leaders supposed to do, they even ask engineers to define the outcomes. Just shoving AI everywhere without providing us the path to use it because of all the red tape. This just not an efficiently driven enterprise.

I would say that most of our issues are external to our team. Having to deal with ASC teams who assume zero responsibility for their own products, senior MEs who are so hands off I doubt they even exist, and a general culture where you can't actually be honest or speak your mind with constructive criticism because all criticism or comments that aren't 110% positive are seen to be anti-Allstate (or anti-Zulfi).

How do you get better without being honest with yourself, Zulfi?

@b4 just happened to our team. Make your own fix it plan, even though the majoirty of our problems involving productivity comes from senior leadership. I listened to Z. You can tell he is an MBA child and not a technologist nor a technical visionary.

In the end its just finger pointing and people not taking ownership. The product model is failing for most non-programming teams bc several of the DPMs do not project manage well and several managing engineers should be principal or lead engineers not part time manager. Several MEs should not be engineers at all. In the end Z sold himself like he was the company savior with an AI revolution and cost reduction. When proven otherwise he panics and just says you are not living into the model well enough. Internal and external customer serivce is at an all time low because of new bad ideas and too many new middle managers that contribute nothing but try to get their name visible to avoid being canned. Suggesting any meaningful chane or constructive ideas gets you negative attention. CVS has been a joke sine 2017. Where did Z come from again?

Yup. Coworkers gave honest answers last time, entire team ended up on an ACTION PLAN to improve results. We had to come up with the action plan. Clown show.
