Assigned Office Building vs Drop in Space Locations

I don't know about other markets but here in Charlotte we have far too many people that are assigned to work in the Uptown area but use the Ballantyne office more than they do their assigned building in Uptown.

It's definitely, a pain in the rear because there is only a handful of drop in spaces on first come first serve. People who drop in, in most cases have no respect of their surroundings and talk loud and have conference calls on the speaker. Not to mention they use the drop in rooms all day as if its their office when it should be used if you need to be in a confidential meeting.

Not mention they don't clean up after themselves. I can go on and on but I do hope something gets done about it because drop in people think just because someone that has a assigned seat and isn't in the office that day , that they are privy to use that space and/or remove some of their equipment to another workspace.

I actually hope the WPE applies to being at your assigned building for the minimum days.

We can reserve seat or other space only via EMS. Anything else is not valid.

@es Kick them out 5 minutes before your meeting time. Happens all the time in Plano Campus. There is even one clown in Plano that put a handmade sign on the window of a small room that states it is "permanently reserved" and no one can come in. The dude comes in and literally sits in the dark for 3x a week. What a joke.

It’s ridiculous. They have to do something about this across all core sites. We have a meeting coming up and booked rooms many months ago and find out couple days before the meeting that it’s apparently somebody’s office but it’s not actually an assigned office and we were able to reserve the room so how does this work?! people plan for months to host site visits just to get this ridiculous hot mess issue thrown at them as if there’s any way to fix it because we can’t literally start construction on a new space to accommodate their visit.
Leaders need to lower their expectations or push back when people try to claim an office or conference room.

Charlotte is a total dump - especially Gateway. Total humiliation ritual every morning having to walk past the guys pulling the stinky trashcans out from the apartments that share the parking deck. Really sets the mood for the entire day. The bathrooms on the floor i sit on were recently updated, but do you think anyone even cares to pay attention to whether or not their p-o actually flushes? No, of course they don't. So gross. i hate it there.

we have the same issue in Hopewell, NJ. Drop in use the only room, which is for meetings. As per the mess they leave behind, it tells me how they live at home...

@a9 ...Yea I heard in some markets some employees that spend more time at locations than their own assigned location are getting their access revoked from the locations they aren't supposed to spend more time at. Grant it some roles may require to travel to different sites due to what they do but technically they aren't supposed to have permanent access they should given temporary visitor access.

In my building in Charlotte we have more drop in access than the assigned seating people. That right there is an issue that GIS/Workspace teams need to look into because that makes no sense.

@OP

Why don't you consider it from the organizational perspective? These are chances to cross-functionally communicate and collaborate while at the same time, upholding the best aspects of our corporate culture.

Live the values!

@OP If you don't badge in to your "home" location once every 30 days, you now lose access. Recently, one of our team members got called out by our SLT because she was supposed to be in Addison Campus and was only badging in at the Plano Campus. They yanked her Plano Campus access as a result.
