Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Are we too toxic?

Been chatting with a recruiter friend who said he avoids former State Farm employees because too many are too toxic. I tried to get more out of him, what does that even mean, but he just shrugged and said that's his experience. What's that all about? Do we actually have a reputation?

I mean you could do a survey of the company and see how many would rather quit than move to claims, and realize its a "toxic he-l hole" with zero effort being put forth to improve it.

Its like....really really bad.....

Its been like this for the decade ive been here, and imo, only gotten worse for all the gaslighting that they are going to improve it soon.

Anyway, its so bad it must be a choice.

Its a very toxic industry overall, with no care for experience and talent. Why would they want someone with experience when you can hire someone new for less? Very rare an insurance company will value experience and competence. The whole industry sees us as a cost that must be reduced.

All of my team from when I first started easily found jobs when we were ready to bail. Most became adjusters at other companies. Your recruiter friend spoke from their experience.

Yes State Farm does have that reputation and it is a fact! When I retired, I am now so thankful that I got rid of the toxicity. State Farm employees are brainwashed without them even knowing they are becoming toxic. They have been put into an indoctrinated bubble and feel helpless they can't get out. The worst toxicity is in leadership since they are dipped more into the toxic bubble. The best way to be is keep your soul. Do not let them own who you are. They did it to me and when I retired it took me almost a year to go through the toxic withdrawals and concentrate on my physical and mental well-being. Just remember they do not have a conscience that eats away at you soul. Leadership is relentless!
