To clarify Joe never said EISP. He said an offer.

@vh With a fresh 4 year union contract and retirees now needing to kick in for their medical, the only attrition you're going to get without an EISP will be from people who are 65 years old or older.

@vp thats my plan and many that I have spoken to as well. No plans on leaving ,especially having to pay 4 or 5 years worth of medical benefits. Now that Im 60 I plan on taking it .slow and safe now..real slow and real safe

@vh You are not going to lose people just by attrition when they have another 4 year contract extension and you have many people who are much younger than Medicare age that would have to now pay into the medical if they leave. If no EISP then these people will just stay and make another 1/2 million or more dollars.

if you listen to Joe , He believes we will lose people esp in the co world by attrition . To him it wont make sense to pay em to leave

@a1 medical is a big thing but then you got to worry about vz endgame … are they gonna plan on bankruptcy and reorganization… can’t trust these sc-mbags for nothin . I believe a large eisp is coming … by August…. But it’s gonna be same eisp as always …. They are making people as miserable as they can to beg to take the eisp

Joe hinted at a layoff last year and then 13000 employees were laid off in November. I don’t see anything from Joe recently, regarding a layoff.

Joe said offer to Union over next several months. Last year it was a select few (surplus) office techs and dispatchers. CO supervisor said 30% at a meeting.

@m0 Are you in the field or the central office? And what region? In upstate New York there’s very little work. Copper’s dying and fios is not available in all areas. In most areas the cable companies and the smaller fiber optic internet companies are eating our lunch for internet service. Very few orders of any kind now that the IEN has slowed down. Most of the rings are built. When monthly routines are done the cot’s are twiddling their thumbs.

We are really busy and shorted handed it would make no sense to he an EIPP. We hired some young blood but the next generation is even lazier then the the guys with 30 plus years. I just don't see it happening maybe near the end of this contract.

@OP
In 2016 Unions and Verizon added a Special EIPP to the contract. In this section it states that in addition to the EIPP(terminology in old NYNEX areas) provisions an additional $40000 payment is made plus 40 years of service is cutoff for monthly payment calculations. In addition there can be no layoffs or forced transfers in the title that receives the special offer under the special EIPP language. Verizon can always give a more generous offer if they want. Years ago in NY they had 3and3 packages which where not in the contract.

@e3 I thought that none of the EISPs are negotiated with the union? I thought that the company just has the ability to declare a surplus and offer retirement incentives as it sees fit.

6 months medical paid not until medicare age, also it is going to be limited not across the board.

There is no triple ISP that is contractually negotiated at this time. The best associate employees can get at this time is a Double ISP $2200/yr plus 50k. Anything beyond that would need to be negotiated. The union does not want to lose more members and despite the promise of newer employees being hired into the bargaining unit the company has been very slow in hiring new employees. At least that is what I am seeing in my state.

If I am not mistaken, A double eisp is $2200 per year and $50k bonus. A triple is $3300 per year and 75k bonus.

OP, can you elaborate on what exactly is a "triple EISP" offer? TIA

@OP it will be so big that some might not be able to handle it

Wow, what a fantasy land you guys are in. Triple EISP across the board and medical. Step away from the computer, get some fresh air and come back to reality.

@OP triple EISP would be good, followed by guaranteed medical until Medicare age. I think many would leave.
