Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Leadership is completely disconnected from employees

Sometimes their expectations are truly ridiculous. Maybe we can let them do our jobs for a while, just so they could get some perspective (even though I firmly believe none of them would last for more than a day.)

Exactly.
There is no leadership. There is only people at the top getting paid. It is one thing to do nice job. But at BNY all you need is to have connections and you will ‘have’ a nice job.

Leaders? No one really “leads” there.

How can you not appreciate EP’s clown art and nature musing emails? Or the Lake Mary site lead’s empathy and leadership lessons from the “LeGrand Empathizer” himself! Can’t you feel the chakra energy being released after seeing their posts? All is right in the world and everything is so wonderful at BNY because of them….

Of course they’re disconnected. Anyone they are paying outside of maybe ex Goldman friends and recent college grads is the enemy to them. They don’t want to connect with the enemy. I saw this firsthand. Worked for management I never met in person for almost 2 years until terminated on a Teams call. Total joke.

Completely disconnected is an understatement.

Leadership is indeed disconnected by their own design. They want and need it to be this way. Why? Because it is easier to ‘disconnect’ employees from the firm this way. We are just tools to this regime. They do not want to humanize us because that would bring emotion and humanity into the equation. It is easier for them this way when they make cuts and eliminate people by giving them poor performance ratings. They must be disconnected in order to better disconnect us.

It’s funny, I pointed that out to middle management during my regular pip progress and got upset with me telling me that I’m questioning his leadership. He really got upset when I told him he has no idea how I’m struggling and dealing with the workflow. Even VPs are also disconnected

Yes, I agree. Not only does management of divisions and above have any idea of the problems faced by the rank and file on any given day, nor do they even bother to learn our names and take the time to learn what we do. Although things were never perfect, but I can say that former management took the time to know everyone and what they did, which was appreciated by the staff. The company ran better that way.

Cmon now. Our fearless leaders know everything. They have fancy business degrees that tell them that.
