Useless HR

People keep saying to report problems, but report them where? To who? All I've seen so far is that speaking up gets twisted back on the employee. Every single time. So why bother?

Let’s all get a group together for those that have filed valid complaints with no action taken. Leaving you forced to work in a hostile environment. Let’s expose the “protected” leaders and see just how many valid complaints they ignore because of “said protected leaders”! Who has filed with no action taken? Raise your hand!

people keep saying HR is useless or incompetent but thats not really it. HR and senior leadership are the same machine. when the person you report IS a senior leader, HRs job is to protect them, not look into them. found that out the hard way. I reported and a few days later there was a warning in my file for something that was never even mine and predated me by years, nobody cared until I spoke up. they dont need it to be true, they just need a reason on paper. document everything and dont assume anything you say stays anonymous.

Do NOT speak up! Nike just has to check a box and claim that they give employees a way to report. They didn’t say that they would follow a fair and thorough process of ensuring that you aren’t retaliated, discriminated against or forced to continue working in the hostile work environment that you report. I spoke up. HR/ aka the investigator told every witness that they interviewed that I was the one that filed the complaint and they told them who the complaint was about. Tell me that makes employees feel safe reporting. I had a target on my back the minute I said anything to HR - even informally. Do NOT trust the process. It’s not designed to protect you. It’s designed to protect the company. Your job is to protect yourself.

@s2

working on one ;)

I have a case on my hand that is worse than anything you heard so far.

Hr doesnt protect the company, they only protect senior leaders who in turn dont have any incentive to generate shareholder value.

Nike is a pyramid scam, it is a club and you aint in it

HR is in the house. Trying to see if the trust has been restored. Nope. We all know that you are here to protect the company. Doing the right thing isn’t a thing anymore. Everyone can do the wrong thing and get away with it. Keep up the good work. If you are the unethical dweeb just keep it up because Nike HR said it’s ok when they did nothing. Such an inspiration.

Yeah there over 20 years and it is a FACT that speaking up to HR puts you on a list. intentional or not whatever the actual mechanism, I’ve seen SOOO many that complained come up on the next layoff.

If you are willing to put up with whatever and stay, then… do that. If not then just realize you’ve set the egg timer for working there.

So no HR is not on the employees side. Period.

HR will never help the employee and always the employer. I will only go to HR if I want to exit the company. However you do need to go to HR and file a complaint if you ever intend to file a complaint with EEOC.

HR protects the company. That’s their job. You should find another profession if you believed the other way around!

HR is there to protect the company, not the employees.

HR’s only job now is to lay people off. All of the real HR stuff is outsourced - recruiting, benefits, etc

HR is valuable - to the company. The minute you report on anything or complain, you can be guaranteed to be put on the watch list. I have never known anyone who has complained to HR and actually stayed employed at the company months later. Nothing is anonymous. HR only wants to be alerted on any potential lawsuits so they can get rid of complainants in advance. The minute you file a complaint, you will be written up for all kinds of petty "violations" that everyone else is guilty of. "Speaking Up" is especially encouraged when they are looking to get rid of people.

The Speak Up Portal is a joke. You pretty much need video evidence of the person breaking the law and a confession of wrongdoing. Even then it may not get acted on if the person is liked by their manager.
