OP
The 8,000 people laid off actually is 11,000 employees because 3,000 positions were back filled in India. so the total % is 11,000 / ~ 45,000 is > 20%, Wow and I believe the total number of 11,000 people because there are so many contractors in Houston now you can smell the spices in their sweat.

Indian Owned News article. Old news and reposted to create anxiety today.

It’s clearly old. No other sites are reporting it and the dates and numbers exactly match the articles from last year. Also there’s no new WARN notice so it’s definitely what’s already happening.

Linkedin also is pushing this story as new...gone are the days of vetting any "news" story and being held accountable for garbage.

My understanding is that this article is just reiterating what had previously been done. There are some people with transition roles that still haven't exited the company. There are even transition roles with Hess folks that are on their way out so this isn't a new layoff I wouldn't think. It's just finishing up the layoffs from last year with the remaining transition folks who already know they don't have a job.

Is this just a description of the current layoff that is already happening? Not a new one?

Your "source" is some sketchy Indian slop website. No mainstream business news outlet or anything internal to Chevron is saying this.
