It’s a ghost town in my building today. There are only two of us on my floor and I’m sitting in a room all by myself “collaborating.” Rumor is this building is up for sale. I hope it sells soon and that we all get sent home permanently to work because commuting 22 miles one way to sit by myself is absolutely ridiculous!

I haven’t returned yet but I plan on going in office once to see what life will be like there. I am a part of the resistance

@bjg, what makes me think that I can WFH? Well, the nimrods have changed their minds so many times that I think everyone is confused about what RTO really means. LOL! And there are always the favorites that have their secret agreements to WFH without anyone knowing - right? And then there are the ones that have medical excuses, etc. and have had exceptions made for them to WFH.
So, yes! I do think that I still can WFH. Why wouldn't I? I will push it until they tell me to leave. And then I will be glad to leave.
My team keeps hiring out of one hub. Every new employee has been from there and the last few employees to leave have been from other locations. I don’t know if they are doing this on purpose or if it is just by accident. WF is difficult to analyze.
I anticipated uptown Charlotte traffic would be ramping up starting today, so planned accordingly.
Nope, the joke was on me. No change in traffic, nobody in I, II or III bldgs either
I am not returning because I plan to leave after bonus payment.
Viva la Resistance!!!! They'll never change my mind on this issue. The NYC execs won't last forever. Eventually we'll get real leaders.

Wells should sell most (all?) of their corporate campuses. Leave the branches for visibility if that's needed for marketing.
But the corp campuses are expensive and pointless. This bank is way too big with way too functions for people to meaningfully collaborate. You can sit in a cube farm surrounded by other people, and have nothing professional in common with any of them. The only thing everyone in this scenario has in common are a shared hatred for RTO, but even that won't make people talk to each other.
Collaboration (to the execs) also includes socializing. The idea is that if you make a bunch of friends at work, you'll stop hating the job/bank. (Whoops! Pointlessly forcing people back in does the opposite of that!)
So, we'll all play the game of RTO chicken - looking for any and all loopholes, etc. until properties can be sold.
Heavy rumors of location consolidation... Like musical chairs, Russian roulette, etc. It'll be interesting to seeing which location (s) get the axe. Will those emps then be perm WFH? Or will they be cut? Relocation? I guess we'll see. Replacing entire teams is more difficult than it might sound.
Knowing where the other campuses are, I would never relocate. I'm guessing most people wouldn't. It's too disruptive to most lives. Mass relocation would also be very expensive for Wells.
So, Wells can:
- Embrace WFH like every other modern company.
This will instantly and permanently raise morale.
- Go all-in on RTO knowing that it will for sure fail, but without knowing exactly what the consequences will be as time keeps unfolding.
This will permanently diminish morale.
- End bank-wide RTO and leave it to LOB leadership to decide who WFH and who doesn't. Close campuses as needed.
This will instantly and permanently raise morale, but not as much as option 1, and only for those employees allowed to WFH. This is the best and worst of both worlds and creates perceptions of unfairness.
Wells leaders really backed itself into a corner with their RTO obsession.
Keep fighting the good fight everyone. This can't go on forever.
What makes you think you'd get to WFH? What would stop them from just off-loading you?
