They're moving away from layoffs and toward firings. I know several people let go for ridiculous reasons. It's getting worse.

@n6 If it really was a stupid reason, you have options. Employment law in Canada, believe it or not, favors the worker. That's why firings for cause need clear paper trails. If it's general performance, there's a process and a PIP. If it's for one error, it needs to be pretty egregious, either costly or a very clear and unambiguous policy violation.

Yup I got let go for stupid reason too last year, that company is nothing else that communist people wanting more and more in their pockets out of regular people like you or me. Thankfully work for a better team and company who actually values people, and o boy we are hiring 200 more people all across Canada. The whole HR, Payroll, Benefit department managers /directors should be replaced at Enb.
Layoff, Firing - aren’t they the same thing? I bet even the firings get a decent severance.
