@j4 I do have a pension however I was only there 5 years before they cut it off so the payment is very low :-( The 401k is my saving grace along with the fact I no longer have a mortgage.

@eb WOW no offense, but you are very lucky. Just from my experience there it seems the majority of the people let go. Where between 45yr and 55yr.
Are you one of the few few workers who when started was given a pension ?
Before they phased out the pensions.
I was extremely lucky. I still have a year and a half before I am 65 but decided to retire early anyway. Thank god I always contributed to my 401k! I absolutely love it. Thank you State Street for letting me go………..having the best time of my life!
Got the payout last summer and I was blessed in disguise.
Very happy days in being far from this he-l.
My new job pays 25% less but I am okay.
I no longer feel constant daily work stress.
There is no mood of dread at my new job , everyone is pleasant.
Got a job that i'm not required to work 60+ hours a week, and on call at all times!
Getting laid off turned out to be a blessing in disguise — I landed a job that is incomparably better.
