Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Mid year review

Why are they making us write the mid year reviews when layoffs are imminent in next 3 weeks?

your management team uses AI to fluff it up so you should do the same.

It's to check a box in the system. Off-book for any upcoming rifs will be after the mid year cycle. Any your bosses need to keep things clean on the books......

@a2 Took me 10 min... use AI, simple as that! By the way your AD's have been instructed to use AI to do them, you should too.

@xt Simple... you will be put on the layoff list! So far I would think you have not been the worst employee in your market... but now we are getting down to the bottom and if you are not filling it out, well... TPAB has zero to go on when review whom it toss in the next round. Plus the fact it is part of your actual job to fill it out so on that basis you are not doing the job you are being paid to do are you... because you are not doing the job you are being paid to do you should have your pay reduced.

Hmm. I do not write mid ior year end review. My manager does not read. I just fill in ' done'....that is all I ever write. I have done it for 10 years.

I wonder why anyone ever bothers. It makes zero difference in your career..

@af Very True. Verizon makes it very clear you do not have to submit a midyear. Its been 10 years since I have. It say it's only about selling yourself. Now if the manager has extra bonus money it makes it easier for him not to give you any. But those days are over.
People on here just can't read which has been proven over and over

@ag Those warn notices are from the layoffs in May or whenever the last one was. This is how warn notices work:

  1. Employees get notified of layoff
2.Warn notice is filed the same day
  2. Employee has the amount of time left as required by their state

So when you see a warn notice today, that is for employees already notified

Maybe the layoff rumor is false.

Someone has to teach AI how to do them.

It gives your manager an opportunity to differentiate between employees so it’ll make it easier to justify any layoff decision

@OP Verizon doesn't make anyone write their review. They even states you don't have to.

Because RIFs aren’t based on performance. Many high performers were let go last November. Perhaps write a lower performance mid year.

@a3 I do know some of the upcoming actions. Not all of course. But there’s no proof I can offer that you’d believe. So why are you hear exactly?

@OP Duh. Because we won’t be here for the annual review.

How do we even know who is getting laid off? Look at the stupid posts on this site. No one knows what they’re talking about. Can’t answer questions with any credible info. All just speculation and stupid responses

I had the same question today as I wasted an hour doing mine. They should have delayed the mid years until after the RIF.
