Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I'm out of here

I've made the decision to leave. I'm glad I did - Verizon has turned into a joke. I'm so tired of nepotism, cronyism, bullsh-t politics, and watching the Titanic sinking as those who run it do nothing to help. Anybody with half a brain knows it's time to get out before you're sucked under by this sinking ship.

Sounds lucky with getting something at 25/50. I’ll be a 27 at 50 and get a tiny discount and 2k+ a month for solo medical if I want to continue with it. So for me there is no point in waiting.

Company is never bad or toxic. It always boils down to your team/manager. Just imagine you get an offer from the company of your dream and then you end up reporting to a bad manager . That manager alone can change your perspective of that dream company.
I have hopped multiple jobs, almost every 3-4 years in my 22+ career every time for growth and have seen pressure and politics everywhere. But one good thing about VZ is my bosses have changed almost every year in my 4 years here , which have been helpful in balancing the toxicity, frequent team/management changes sometimes helps

I'm doing the same thing later this year once my 25 years/age 50 line up! I'll have my health care and pension from VZ and matching the pay can happen around every corner. We were well paid at one point but gave up raises to keep the pension and health care for so long that we're significantly (20-30%) underpaid now.

Congratulations to you, if my numbers were already lined up I'd be able to hit the road too!

This board has turned to complaining because there's no where else to turn. Our management and execs don't care or also feel stuck. I'm assuming that it's not that easy to find a 180k+ job outside of NYC/Manhattan and CA (and maybe a few other locations) unless you've had a Fortune 100 Director job or that's what your credential is worth (ex. lawyer, STEM PhD, Inv Banker) or you're at least 40 if not 50+ maybe in tech or middle mgmt. And the opportunities continue to shrink the higher your comp. I just wish I could go to work without being belittled and snubbed by people who would rather do the wrong thing over and over again instead of listen to and accept the good ideas of those with lesser titles or connections.

Otherwise, Titanic all the way for me, so break out the fiddle.

Been here a long time, not worth the effort to look somewhere else unless you don't mind jumping around from place to place. All jobs have their downfalls...I'll stay until they kick me to the curb...not to say I'm not looking at my next move...Advice for younger folks...keep looking if your not happy. You need to be happy, it might be with less money, but smiling and being happy is worth more than the extra cash.

It's amazing that people will give up on the fact that they deserve happiness and abundunce and instead stay with a life sucking corporations and be miserable. Don't be scared to do what you want to. Have faith in yourself and always go with your instincts. That's how you elevate yourself and level up in life.

With terrible leadership in political office and the economy the way it is, pending war, recession, food shortages coming.. That's just brilliant... 🥴

Glad you think it is somehow different just anywhere. I for one am still here just trying to eek out past the recession to retire early. As a management employee who gets Zero retirement benefits it is ridiculously difficult to find a non worse job that had benefits without expecting worse hours and more stress then this place.

Depending on what area you’re in at vz it may be best to stay put for now. Lots of layoffs happening everywhere in the US. Good luck.
