The University of Vermont Health system announced system-wide layoffs and service closures. 142 roles were eliminated, including 30 at Alice Hyde Medical Center and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. UVMH also intends to close the Adirondack Blood Donor Center on July 10. New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) nurses are protesting these decisions. They demand UVMH save local healthcare services and negotiate a fair contract.
