Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

For those who relocated

What was your motivation to do so? I am feeling overwhelmed and under confident and just thinking all is going to he-l with this move as I dread that 2 hour commute

@OP I don't think you can fault the company if you chose to live 2 hours away from your office. They su-k, but take some ownership.

For me, it came down to needing to continue working. I’m too young to retire and am not able to be without a job financially. I have actively searched for external jobs for over three years and have barely gotten any interviews for IT positions. Moving for T was a no brainer. It was really the only choice I had.

Rent in Plano Frisco area, stores stuff in other state until you get the lay of the land and job is now more safe. To buy home with several unknowns combined is not wise with this company at this time.

We relocated 2 years ago and the biggest miss is all the friends and community involvement we used to have..almost everything is far in Dallas. Be prepared to put more miles on your vehicle if you relocate.

Don’t worry about the 2 hour commute. You won’t have to do it for long. They asked you to move because they want you gone. HR will eventually catch up to you….

@a5 Nice! Wonder what area is it? Irving is the only area closer to both airports but schools are not great.

I relocated to Dallas on my own. There's more opportunity here with the company and other companies. I have easy access to both airports and a lot of amenities in the DFW.
